Inkjet printing apparatus and printing method using adjustment pattern

A print position adjustment mode is performed with high accuracy while consumption of print media is saved. An inkjet printing apparatus prints an adjustment pattern including multiple patches for adjusting print positions of dots by a print head on a print medium. Patches set next to each other in a scanning direction are printed above platen ribs at intervals based on rib pitches at which the platen ribs are arranged.

Determining alignment using fiducials

In some examples, the print apparatus comprises a print head to deposit print agent onto a substrate; a detector to detect a fiducial; a first light source to back-illuminate the substrate, such that light from the first light source is to be detected by the detector through the substrate; and processing apparatus. The processing apparatus is to operate the print head to deposit print agent to form a first fiducial on a first side of the substrate, the first fiducial comprising a shape of a first colour and having a first dimension, and a background of print agent of a second, different colour, wherein the first dimension of the shape does not exceed a corresponding dimension of the background; operate the print head to deposit print agent to form a second fiducial on a second, opposite side of the substrate, the second fiducial comprising an inverted version of the shape of the first colour; operate the first light source to back-illuminate the substrate; operate the detector to detect the first and second fiducials; and determine whether the first fiducial is aligned with the second fiducial. A method and a machine-readable medium are also disclosed.

An ejection apparatus includes an ejection head having an ejection port, a droplet detection unit, an acquisition unit, a control unit, and a decision unit. The droplet detection unit detects that a droplet ejected from the ejection port has reached a predetermined position. The acquisition unit acquires information regarding a velocity of movement of the detected droplet. The control unit controls the ejection head to eject the droplet from the ejection port. The decision unit decides a number of consecutive ejections of a plurality of droplets from the ejection head based on the acquired information regarding the velocities of each of the plurality of droplets ejected consecutively and detected by the droplet detection unit. If the acquisition unit acquires the information regarding velocities of detected droplets, the control unit controls the ejection head to consecutively eject the droplets from the ejection head based on the decided number of consecutive ejections.

A printing apparatus includes an imaging apparatus, a carriage, and a processing section. A sensor in the imaging apparatus has a plurality of pixels placed in a row direction and a column direction in the form of a matrix. The imaging apparatus is disposed in the carriage so that the row direction of the sensor and the direction in which the plurality of nozzles constituting each nozzle row are placed become parallel. The processing section causes ink to be discharged from a nozzle row to be adjusted to print a test pattern. By using a two-dimensional scale as a reference in detection of landing deviation, the processing section detects the landing deviation caused by the nozzle row to be adjusted, according to the imaged test pattern.

TECHNIQUES FOR ARRAYED PRINTING OF A PERMANENT LAYER WITH IMPROVED SPEED AND ACCURACY

A repeatable manufacturing process uses a printer to deposits liquid for each product carried by a substrate to form respective thin films. The liquid is dried, cured or otherwise processed to form from the liquid a permanent layer of each respective product. To perform printing, each newly-introduced substrate is roughly mechanically aligned, with an optical system detecting sub-millimeter misalignment, and with software correcting for misalignment. Rendering of adjusted data is performed such that nozzles are variously assigned dependent on misalignment to deposit droplets in a regulated manner, to ensure precise deposition of liquid for each given area of the substrate. For example, applied to the manufacture of flat panel displays, software ensures that exactly the right amount of liquid is deposited for each “pixel” of the display, to minimize likelihood of visible discrepancies in the resultant display.

A printing apparatus includes a printhead having a plurality of chips each including a plurality of nozzle arrays which are arranged in a predetermined nozzle array direction and each of which is formed from a plurality of nozzles and energy generation elements provided in correspondence with the nozzles of each nozzle array and each configured to generate energy used for discharging ink. The apparatus relatively moves the printhead and a print medium in a direction intersecting the nozzle array direction, reads a predetermined test pattern printed on the print medium by driving the printhead, analyzes the read test pattern, calculates a slant of the printhead with respect to a reference based on a result of the analysis, and corrects the calculated slant of the printhead by moving the printhead.

IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND STORAGE MEDIUM

An object is to print a high quality image with resistance to print misalignment. To this end, the image processing apparatus generates quantized data for printing a first dot pattern and a second dot pattern in an overlapping manner. The first dot pattern and the second dot pattern are lattice patterns varying in a combination of two basis vectors. In a combined dot pattern obtained by combining the first and second dot patterns, there is a neighboring dot in which a dot in the first dot pattern and a dot in the second dot pattern are arranged at an interval smaller than a lattice spacing. The neighboring dot includes multiple neighboring dots varying in an approach direction.

Integration of a line-scan camera on a single pass inkjet printer

Disclosed is an industrial single-pass inkjet printer/press incorporating a line-scan camera. The line-scan camera enables system software to inspect every sheet for quality assurance purposes. These inspection results are tied back to a digital printer to take one or more of several possible actions.
