A printer device includes a main housing including a print media cassette receiving slot. A first drive assembly of the main housing includes a motor operatively coupled to rotate a drive gear. A print media cassette is removably inserted into the print media cassette receiving slot, and includes a second drive assembly having a driven gear that is engaged with the drive gear. One of the drive gear or the driven gear is mounted for movement such that at least one of (i) a position of an axis of the drive gear is movable relative to the main housing or (ii) a position of an axis of the driven gear is movable relative to the printer cassette. A retaining mechanism includes a portion movable into a gear train coupling position in which the drive gear and the driven gear are held in driving contact with each other.

PRINT SYSTEM

A print system includes a head, a conveyance motor, a first connector, and a second connector, a power supply circuit. When a first power source is connected to the first connector and a second power source is connected to the second connector, the power supply circuit supplies at least some of a first power to the head and supplies at least some of a second power to the conveyance motor. The first power is a power of the first power source. The second power is a power of the second power source.

According to an embodiment, there is provided a printer including a plurality of printing modes. A first printing mode is a printing mode for discharging a label by a transfer device, the label being still attached to a backing sheet. A second printing mode is a printing mode for discharging the label by the transfer device while peeling off the label from the backing sheet. The printer controls power supply from a storage battery such that a printing device performs printing at a first printing speed when the printing mode is the first printing mode and such that the printing device performs the printing at a second printing speed when the printing mode is the second printing mode, the second printing speed being slower than the first printing speed.

At least a portion of the carriage drive motor and at least a portion of the gear group are at the same position as each other in a movement direction (x direction) of the carriage.

In response to receipt control data received after the preceding data, the controller controls the image forming unit, motor, and transmission assembly to form an image on the sheet based on an image forming condition included in the control data.

In a recording process, the controller sets a limitation current calculated by subtracting a variable first driving current from an allowable current to the power source, controls the power source to supply the first driving current to the drivable device and simultaneously supply a variable second driving current not exceeding the maximum current to the motor, and when the controller determines, based on a signal output from the sensor, that a behavior of the carriage satisfies an error condition, on condition that the drivable device has completed a targeted conveying action, issue an error alert, and on condition that the drivable device has not completed the targeted conveying action, control the motor to cause the carriage to continue moving without issuing the error alert.
