An apparatus for treating a relief plate precursor, such as a printing plate precursor, with a liquid, includes a treatment compartment for treating the relief plate precursor with a liquid, and a transport system for use with one or more transport bars. A transport bar thereof is configured to be coupled to a relief plate precursor. The transport system is configured to move the transport bar with the coupled relief plate precursor through the treatment compartment. The transport bar is provided with a coupling portion configured to couple the transport bar to the transport system. A protection system is configured to guide and evacuate liquid such that the transport system is protected against wetting with the liquid of the treatment compartment.

A plate handling system (500, 600) for transporting printing plates between workstations in a process workflow. A plurality of vacuum gripper end effectors (512) configured to grip the printing plates are mounted to a computer-controlled transporter (514) configured to translate in at least three orthogonal directions and to rotate about at least one rotational axis. At least one sensor (560) detects orientation of the plate relative to a staging location and a controller (630) causes the transporter to move based upon programmed instructions in accordance with information provided by the sensor. A mobile preparation table (1000) may be provided in the staging location. A thickness measurement system (1090) may be included in some embodiments.

Methods for rejuvenating an imaging member of an ink-based digital printing system

Disclosed herein are methods for an ink-based digital printing system, comprising providing an imaging member a reimageable surface layer disposed on a structural mounting layer, the reimageable surface layer comprising a fluorosilicone elastomer and an infrared-absorbing filler comprising carbon black, and a plurality of surface defects on the reimageable surface layer, wherein the surface defects comprises carbon black exposed through the fluorosilicone elastomer of the reimageable surface layer. The method also comprises applying a coating of rejuvenating oil comprising an amino-functional organopolysiloxane to the reimageable surface layer, whereby at least a portion of the plurality of surface defects are coated by the amino-functional organopolysiloxane, thereby rejuvenating the imaging member.

The apparatus includes a housing, a treating means for treating the relief precursor with at least one liquid, a removal means for removing debris and/or liquid from the relief precursor, the removal means arranged downstream of the treating means, and a conveying mechanism configured for transporting the relief precursor in a transport direction through the housing. The removal means includes a liquid removal and guidance body mounted for removing liquid from the back side of the relief precursor. The conveying mechanism is configured for pulling the relief precursor over and against said liquid removal and guidance body whilst the relief precursor is moved in the transport direction, such that in operation liquid is removed from the back side.
