COMBINATION PRINTER
An Orlof printing section (2) is provided with an Orlof printing unit that has the following: partial plate cylinders (11), a collecting blanket cylinder (12), a collecting plate cylinder (13), a blanket cylinder (9), an impression cylinder (10), and a moving inker (25). An offset printing section (3) is provided with front-side and back-side offset printing units (3a-3d, 3e-3h) that each have an ink-supply device (18), a plate cylinder (19), a blanket cylinder (15), and an impression cylinder (16). The respective impression cylinders of the front-side offset printing unit and the back-side offset printing unit are placed up against each other such that said printing units receive and output sheets between said impression cylinders. The offset printing section (3) is also provided with a front-side inspection camera (23) and a back-side inspection camera (24). The Orlof printing section and the offset printing section are connected by transfer cylinders (14).
Gravure printing unit and method for checking and/or adjusting and/or correcting a relative position
A gravure printing unit is provided by which substrate can be printed according to a gravure printing method. The gravure printing unit has a forme cylinder, which comprises, on its circumference, an image-forming pattern of recesses, and has an inking unit by which the pattern of recesses provided on the forme cylinder can be at least partially inked. The forme cylinder can be partially inked from an inking device via a first inking unit cylinder, which has, in the region of its lateral surface, recesses that correspond to recesses on the forme cylinder, and via a second inking unit cylinder, which is to be partially inked by the first inking unit cylinder. To produce an image element to be used for checking a relative position between the forme cylinder and the first inking unit cylinder, the forme cylinder has, within the printing width but preferably outside of an image-forming pattern of recesses that supplies the print image of one or more N-up copies, and lying in a circumferential region, at least one first recess, which overlaps on the forme cylinder only partially with a projection, which is obtained on the forme cylinder by the rolling off, in pairs in each case, of the inking unit cylinders that are involved in the ink transport, of a recess, which is provided in a defined position and location on the circumference of the first inking unit cylinder for the purpose of checking the relative position. A substrate section and a method for checking and/or adjusting and/or correcting a relative position between the first inking unit cylinder and the forme cylinder are also disclosed.
GRAVURE PRINTING UNIT AND METHOD FOR CHECKING AND/OR ADJUSTING AND/OR CORRECTING A RELATIVE POSITION
A gravure printing unit is provided by which substrate can be printed according to a gravure printing method. The gravure printing unit has a forme cylinder, which comprises, on its circumference, an image-forming pattern of recesses, and has an inking unit by which the pattern of recesses provided on the forme cylinder can be at least partially inked. The forme cylinder can be partially inked from an inking device via a first inking unit cylinder, which has, in the region of its lateral surface, recesses that correspond to recesses on the forme cylinder, and via a second inking unit cylinder, which is to be partially inked by the first inking unit cylinder. To produce an image element to be used for checking a relative position between the forme cylinder and the first inking unit cylinder, the forme cylinder has, within the printing width but preferably outside of an image-forming pattern of recesses that supplies the print image of one or more N-up copies, and lying in a circumferential region, at least one first recess, which overlaps on the forme cylinder only partially with a projection, which is obtained on the forme cylinder by the rolling off, in pairs in each case, of the inking unit cylinders that are involved in the ink transport, of a recess, which is provided in a defined position and location on the circumference of the first inking unit cylinder for the purpose of checking the relative position. A substrate section and a method for checking and/or adjusting and/or correcting a relative position between the first inking unit cylinder and the forme cylinder are also disclosed.
Devices for aligning magnetic or magnetizable particles, machine, and method for producing optically variable image elements
Devices are provided for aligning magnetic or magnetizable particles, which particles are contained in a coating that is applied on one side of a substrate, which substrate is in the form of a web or sheet. The device has a magnet cylinder, which is arranged in a transport path of the substrate to be conveyed and, in a region of the outer circumference of the magnet cylinder, the device has a plurality of devices for effecting a magnetic field, or magnet devices for short. Some or all of the magnet devices comprise a magnet which is rotatable by an associated motor. The magnet cylinder is rotatably arranged in frame walls of a frame. At least one transducer for contactless transfer of electrical energy or control signals from the outside is provided in or on the rotating magnet cylinder, which comprises a first transducer part fixed to the frame and a second transducer part fixed to the cylinder during operation.

An apparatus for inspecting the characters/numbers of a negotiable instrument, the apparatus being provided with: cameras (124) for imaging the character/number sequence (1b) printed on each design on large-size printed matter (1) on which a plurality of designs of the negotiable instrument are printed; and a character/number inspection device (10) for determining the suitability of the characters/numbers printed on each negotiable instrument on the basis of the image data imaged by the cameras (124), wherein the character/number inspection device (10) determines the suitability of the character/number sequence (1b) in a cut segment (1a) on the basis of a plurality of determination standards set in accordance with the position of the cut segment (1a) on the large-size printed matter (1).
DEVICES FOR ALIGNING MAGNETIC OR MAGNETIZABLE PARTICLES, MACHINE, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING OPTICALLY VARIABLE IMAGE ELEMENTS
Devices are provided for aligning magnetic or magnetizable particles, which particles are contained in a coating that is applied on one side of a substrate, which substrate is in the form of a web or sheet. The device has a magnet cylinder, which is arranged in a transport path of the substrate to be conveyed and, in a region of the outer circumference of the magnet cylinder, the device has a plurality of devices for effecting a magnetic field, or magnet devices for short. Some or all of the magnet devices comprise a magnet which is rotatable by an associated motor. The magnet cylinder is rotatably arranged in frame walls of a frame. At least one transducer for contactless transfer of electrical energy or control signals from the outside is provided in or on the rotating magnet cylinder, which comprises a first transducer part fixed to the frame and a second transducer part fixed to the cylinder during operation.
PROCESSING MACHINE AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTING A PRINTING LENGTH AND/OR PROCESSING LENGTH
In some examples, a processing machine for processing a substrate includes at least one shaping unit and/or at least one application unit. The at least one application unit and/or the at least one shaping unit in each case includes at least one forme cylinder and at least one impression cylinder. The at least one forme cylinder of the application unit includes at least one application forme including at least one application surface and/or the at least one shaping unit includes at least one shaping tool including at least one working surface. The application surface and/or the working surface are arranged to cover at least a portion of the outer cylindrical surface of the at least one forme cylinder. A speed of the at least one forme cylinder and a speed of the at least one impression cylinder have a speed ratio with respect to one another.
SHEET PROCESSING MACHINE AND METHOD FOR MONITORING SHEET TRAVEL
A sheet processing machine, in particular a sheet-fed printing press or a sheet die cutting machine, has a sheet infeed having at least one stop for feeding and aligning sheets, and has a device for monitoring sheet travel along a sheet transport path of the sheet infeed. At least one measurement system, for detecting a lateral sheet edge of the sheet, is provided. A method is also provided for monitoring sheet travel along a sheet transport path in a sheet infeed. An alternative device and an alternative method for monitoring sheet travel along a transport path of a sheet processing machine are provided. At least one sensor, which can be associated with the lateral region of the sheet transport path, and which is configured for the optical detection and determination of the position of a mark on the sheet, is utilized.

An apparatus for inspecting the characters/numbers of a negotiable instrument, the apparatus being provided with: cameras (124) for imaging the character/number sequence (1b) printed on each design on large-size printed matter (1) on which a plurality of designs of the negotiable instrument are printed; and a character/number inspection device (10) for determining the suitability of the characters/numbers printed on each negotiable instrument on the basis of the image data imaged by the cameras (124), wherein the character/number inspection device (10) determines the suitability of the character/number sequence (1b) in a cut segment (1a) on the basis of a plurality of determination standards set in accordance with the position of the cut segment (1a) on the large-size printed matter (1).

A method for checking the maintenance of register of printing images to be printed on two opposite sides of a printing material, in which the first side of the printing material is printed in a rotary printing press by a first printing unit cylinder, and in which the second side of the printing material, which lies opposite to first cite, is printed in the printing press by a second printing unit cylinder which interacts with the first printing unit cylinder. A printed image is printed by the first printing unit cylinder under the second printing unit cylinder. Afterwards, the printing material is printed in contact with the two interacting printing unit cylinders with the printing image, which is printed under the second printing unit cylinder, being printed onto the same side of the printing material together with an identical or a different printing image which is to be printed by the second printing unit cylinder during continuous printing of the rotary printing press. The printed images, which are printed together onto the same side of the printing material, are subsequently checked, with regard to their maintenance of register.
