Device for changing printing plates on a cylinder including pneumatic lines and releasable check valves
A method and device change printing plates on a cylinder. The method includes opening a first clamping device and releasing a leading edge of a first printing plate and opening a second clamping device and releasing a trailing edge of the first printing plate. The first and second clamping devices are both opened before a first rotation process of a cylinder. The cylinder is rotated during the first rotation process in a first direction to dismount the first printing plate from a circumferential surface of the cylinder. The cylinder is rotated in a second rotation process in an opposite second direction to mount a second printing plate replacing the first printing plate to the circumferential surface of the cylinder. Because the first clamping device and the second clamping device are both opened before the first rotation of the cylinder, the set-up period required for a printing plate change is reduced.

PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR FEEDING A FLEXOGRAPHIC PRINTING PLATE PROCESSOR
A plate processing line and methods for producing a flexographic printing plate. An imaging station applies image information to a first plate. A first exposure station cures the first plate. One or more of water, a solvent, and/or a thermal process is further applied to the first plate. A drying station or an after-exposure station is configured to expose the plate to further radiation. A feeding station is configured to feed the first plate cured by the exposure station and a second plate cured by a second exposure station to the processing station. A transportation cart may transport the plate between the first or second exposure stations and the processing station.

CAN DECORATOR AND PLATE CYLINDER LOCKING MECHANISM, REPLACEMENT SYSTEM, AND TIMING ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREFOR
A can decorator includes a plate cylinder shaft, a plate cylinder structured to be installed on the plate cylinder shaft, and a plate cylinder locking and unlocking mechanism structured to selectively lock the plate cylinder to the plate cylinder shaft such that the plate cylinder shaft and plate cylinder rotate in conjunction and to selectively unlock the plate cylinder from the plate cylinder shaft such that the plate cylinder shaft and plate cylinder do not rotate in conjunction and the plate cylinder is permitted to be removed from the plate cylinder shaft. The plate cylinder locking and unlocking mechanism uses at least one of pneumatic, magnetic, and mechanical power to selectively lock and unlock the plate cylinder.
Printing unit for printing plate elements from printing plates and converting machine comprising such a printing unit
A printing unit for making prints from printing plates on plate elements conveyed by a transport system having at least one plate cylinder mounted rotatably and suitable for carrying initially at least one earlier printing plate and then at least one later printing plate, the printing unit includes a primary support suitable for supporting the later printing plate, in a standby configuration, during printing using the earlier printing plate and during the unwinding of the earlier printing plate, and in an engaged configuration, during the winding of the later printing plate onto the plate cylinder, a portion of the later printing plate being attached to the plate cylinder, and a secondary support suitable for supporting the earlier printing plate unwound from the plate cylinder, in which the primary support includes a primary fastening member for fastening the later printing plate in the standby configuration, and a primary fastening mechanism for fastening the later printing plate in the engaged configuration.
Printing unit having a plate cylinder and plate changer
A printing unit has a printing form cylinder. A plate changer is arranged in a manner which is allocated to the printing form cylinder. The plate changer has a bearing surface on which a printing form, which is arranged or is to be arranged on the printing form cylinder, can be laid. That bearing surface is arranged such that it can be moved to and fro between at least two defined positions longitudinally with respect to the rotational axis of the printing form cylinder. The printing form is arranged and registered on the bearing surface of the plate changer. At least two edges of a carrier for the relevant printing form, which are arranged at a right angle with respect to each other, are brought into physical contact with register pins which are arranged on the bearing surface of the plate changer. A first edge of the carrier of the relevant printing form is arranged to bear against a first register pin and a second edge, orthogonal with respect to the first edge, of the carrier of the relevant printing form, is arranged to bear against a second register pin. The printing unit is preferably arranged as a device for printing hollow bodies.
PRINTING UNIT HAVING A PLATE CYLINDER AND PLATE CHANGER
