Each of the inclined grooves extends from a crown region to a shoulder region. Each of the inclined grooves includes a first portion arranged on the crown region side, a second portion arranged on the shoulder region side, and a third portion connecting between the first portion and the second portion. The third portion has a groove width smaller than the first portion and the second portion. The first portion, the second portion, and the third portion are inclined to the same side with respect to the tyre circumferential direction.

A ground contact region of the tread portion of a studdable tire includes a center region located over a range corresponding to a length of 5 to 25% of a ground contact width from a tire centerline on each of both sides of the tire centerline in a tire width direction; and two shoulder regions located on both sides of the center region in the tire width direction. In each of the center region and the shoulder regions, a plurality of the stud pin installation holes are disposed along each of four or more pin arrangement lines extending in a tire circumferential direction. An average value of adjacent intervals between the pin arrangement lines in the center region is larger than an average value of adjacent intervals between the pin arrangement lines in each of the shoulder regions.

Pair of motor vehicle tyres

A pair of motor vehicle tires includes a front tire and a rear tire to be mounted respectively on a front wheel and a rear wheel of a two-wheeled vehicle, each tire of the pair having a tread band extending around an axis of rotation. The tread band of the front tire includes a central annular portion straddling an equatorial plane and two annular shoulder portions disposed on axially opposite sides of the central annular portion. The central annular portion includes at least a pair of first grooves extending substantially longitudinally on opposite sides of the equatorial plane in such a way as to form a concavity directed toward the equatorial plane. Each shoulder portion includes a plurality of second grooves isolated from the first grooves and extending substantially transversally so as to form an average inclination with the equatorial plane greater than 90°. The tread band of the rear tire includes instead a module which is replicated along a direction of circumferential development of the tire, the module including: at least one first pair of first grooves inclined in opposite directions with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire; each first groove of the first pair extending along a portion of the tread band between the equatorial plane and a respective shoulder and forming an average inclination less than 60° with the equatorial plane.

A motorcycle tyre has a tread band including a central portion and two shoulder portions arranged at axially opposite sides of the central portion. The central portion includes a first plurality of grooves extended according to a substantially longitudinal direction and alternatively arranged at opposite sides of the equatorial plane of the tyre. Each groove of the first plurality of grooves has a substantially curvilinear course such as to form a concavity. The central portion further includes a sub-portion substantially free of grooves placed astride the equatorial plane of the tyre. Each of the shoulder portions includes a second plurality of grooves arranged obliquely relative to the equatorial plane of the tyre.

Tread block with features for improved thermal wear

A tire tread having features that improve thermal wear performance is provided. A tread block is provided with an aperture. The aperture is positioned and sized in a manner that reduces stresses and/or strains in the tread block so as to reduce thermal wear. Certain variations in the depth and shape of the aperture are provided. Such tread feature can provide for a tire capable of operating at higher speeds for a given load.

A tire tread includes a branched main groove composed of a first groove extending inclined toward the designated tire rotation direction on one side in the tire width direction, a second groove extending from an end portion of the first groove in the reverse rotation direction of the designated tire rotation direction inclined toward the designated tire rotation direction on the other end in the tire width direction, and a third groove extending from an end portion of the first groove and second groove in the reverse rotation direction of the designated tire rotation direction toward the reverse rotation direction of the designated tire rotation direction, wherein a connecting portion of the first groove and the second groove is formed in a curved shape, the first groove and the second groove are formed in a curved line having the center of the radius of curvature on the side of the reverse rotation direction of the designated tire rotation direction, and the third groove is formed in a curved line having the center of the radius of curvature on the side of the tire center portion.
