TIRE WITH OFFSET BEVELED KNOBS
20180009268 · 2018-01-11 ·

A tire includes knob sets having leading edge bevels connected by a ramp. The leading edge bevels may be offset in their positions or angles. Each knob set includes a first knob attached to a second knob. The knobs in each set may differ in lengths or in the angles of the leading edge bevels. Each knob set shares a common base and includes a pair of elongate outermost surfaces divided by an optional axial channel. Each knob set includes a lateral edge, medial edge and a trailing edge. Transverse rows of two or more knob sets may vary in lateral spacing between knob sets to provide narrow and wide rows in an alternating pattern. Knob sets may also be included on sidewalls of the tire.

A tread portion is provided with a first block and a second block, which protrudes outward in a tire width direction more than the first block, alternately in a tire circumferential direction in a shoulder region. A first projection is provided in an outer side of the first block, and a second projection is provided in an outer side of the second block. An outside end of the second projection is connected to a side surface of the second block and is arranged closer to an outer side in the tire diametrical direction than an outside end of the first projection. An angle θ1 formed by a side surface of the first projection and a surface of the side wall portion is equal to or smaller than an angle θ2 formed by a side surface of the second projection and the surface of the side wall portion.

The tire includes a lateral groove formed in a tread section and extending in a tire width direction. One groove wall forming the lateral groove includes an inclined surface with curved shape. The inclined surface has an inclination angle, the inclination angle being an angle with respect to a tire radial direction from a groove bottom to a tread surface in a cross section perpendicular to a tire axial direction, that gradually increases from an inner side in the tire width direction on a tire equatorial line side to an outer side in the tire width direction.

A tire 1 according to an example of an embodiment includes a plurality of lands, and a tread having a sipe formed in at least part of the lands. An inclined surface is formed between an opening end on at least one side in a width direction of the sipe and a ground contact surface, the inclined surface having a linear shape in cross section and continuing from the ground contact surface. An intermediate surface is formed between the inclined surface and the sipe, the intermediate surface having an inclination angle with respect to the ground contact surface of 0 degrees or having an inclination angle with respect to the ground contact surface that is smaller than an inclination angle of the inclined surface with respect to the ground contact surface.

Pneumatic Tire Tread for a Heavy Duty Vehicle Comprising Stone-Expelling and Noise-Preventing Protuberances

A tire tread (1) for a heavy construction plant vehicle, and aims to improve both its ability to not retain stones in its voids, during off-road use, and its ability to dampen the noise that it generates, during on-road use. At least one longitudinal groove (6) of the tread (1) has a longitudinal distribution of protuberances (7), and any protuberance (7) has a height H′ at least equal to 0.9 times the depth H of the groove (6) and has a first portion (71), having a height H1, a width W1 and a thickness T1, and a second portion (72), having a height H2, a width W2 and a thickness T2, satisfying the relationships: H′=H1+H2, 0.6*H′<=H2<=0.9*H′, W2>=0.25*W, T2<=min(3 mm; 1/3*T1), W1>=0.5*W, T1>=H1.

An object of the invention is to provide a tire having little change in riding comfort performance and wet performance before and after wear of the tread part and in which riding comfort performance and wet performance as when the tire is newly used are maintained. The fire comprises a tread being composed of a rubber layer in which there is little change in hardness after thermal deterioration and having a groove shape such that a sea ratio after wear with respect to a sea ratio as when the tire is newly used is within a predetermined range.

Stabilizer structure for a tread of a tire

A tread for a tire includes a first circumferential main groove, a second circumferential main groove, a third circumferential main groove, and a fourth circumferential main groove. The fourth main groove has a stabilizing structure for increasing tread stiffness. The stabilizing structure has a circumferentially extending subgroove in a radially innermost bottom of the fourth circumferential main groove. The subgroove is axially offset a predetermined amount from a centerline of the fourth circumferential main groove.

DECOUPLING GROOVE FOR TIRE

A tire includes a circumferentially continuous decoupling groove that extends radially inward toward the rotational axis of the tire. The decoupling groove is formed by inner and outer walls that are axially spaced apart from each other and joined by a base wall interconnecting inner radial portions thereof. A width between the inner and outer walls of the decoupling groove varies over a radial depth of the decoupling groove. The inner wall extends at an angle of approximately 5° from a radial plane disposed perpendicular to the rotational axis of the tire.

Pneumatic tire

A pneumatic tire includes circumferential main grooves extending in the tire circumferential direction and a land portion defined by the circumferential main grooves. The land portion includes a through lug groove that passes through the land portion in the tire lateral direction and includes first and second chamfered portions formed on left and right edge portions of the through lug groove. The first chamfered portion opens at one end to one of the edge portions of the land portion and terminates at the other end at a central portion in the groove length direction of the through lug groove. The second chamfered portion opens at one end portion to one of the edge portions of the land portion and terminates at the other end portion at a central portion in the groove length direction of the through lug groove.
