Tire with means for setting out studs at the tire surface, and method
Tyre for a wheel of a vehicle, with a profiled tread for supporting the vehicle on the ground, provided with an adjustment device for adjusting a tread pattern height of the profiled tread. Method for at least partly replacing a profiled tread of such a tyre.
TYRE
A tyre T for adaptively adjusting to the tyre's rolling conditions, the tyre T comprising first and second side walls (1, 2) with a contact wall (3) extending therebetween and a heater 7 for heating one or more of the first side wall (1), second side wall (2) and contact wall (3), wherein plural chambers (4, 5, 6) are defined within the tyre T, at least one of the plural chambers (4, 6) being selectively inflatable for altering the external shape of the first side wall (1), second side wall (2) and/or contact wall (3).
VEHICLE TIRES WITH RETRACTABLE GRIPPING MEMBERS
A vehicle tire that is configured to assist a driver traverse hazardous conditions such as but not limited to snow or ice. The vehicle tire of the present invention includes a tread assembly having a base member. Integrally formed into the base member are a plurality of chambers. The chambers have an interior volume wherein each chamber includes a gripping member sealably and movably mounted therein. The gripping member is movable in an outwards-inwards direction wherein the movement is controller by air pressure and a spring. The gripping members are deployed to their second position so as to extend beyond the upper surface of the base member in order to provide improved traction for the vehicle on which the vehicle tire of the present invention is installed. The chambers are pneumatically coupled with each other and the tire with a tubing network.
VEHICLE WHEEL ASSEMBLY FOR ENHANCED ROAD GRIP
A vehicle wheel assembly includes a wheel, a tire, one or a plurality of protruding elements positioned fully or partially within the tire and a deployment mechanism configured to deploy said one or a plurality of protruding elements out of the tire to a deployed position utilizing pressure within the tire, and configured to retract said one or a plurality of protruding elements from the deployed position to a retracted position.
All season safety tire
A vehicle tire includes a selectively actuated stud deployment system for increased traction. The studs are contained in cells in the surface of the tire and forced to deploy by pneumatic or fluid pressure. When the pressure is released, the studs retract.
All-weather tire
In one representative embodiment, a tire comprises an inner shell having a hollow interior space, an outer shell disposed radially outward from the inner shell, and at least one pump assembly disposed adjacent to the inner shell and having a compressible tube portion, wherein the tube portion of the pump assembly is configured to expand radially outwardly beyond the outer shell and to compress radially inwardly, and wherein the pump assembly is configured to direct a fluid from the tube portion of the pump assembly to the interior space of the inner shell.
Expanding tire rim system
An expanding tire rim comprises an inner hub in hydraulic communication with a plurality of arms having curved outer rim sections. When activated by a user the hydraulic system permits the diameter of the outer rim to expand. Each arm has a plurality of tire retaining spikes.
Methods for use by ice adaptive tire systems
In one aspect, a method provides a reciprocating bolt by a bolt assembly having a bolt assembly body, a cap affixed to the bolt assembly body, and a base affixed to the bolt assembly body opposite the cap. The method includes biasing a bolt carrier in the bolt assembly body in a retracted position relative to the bolt assembly, resulting in a center portion of a diaphragm disposed between the cap and the bolt assembly body being deflected toward the cap. The method also includes applying an actuation force to the bolt carrier so as to move the bolt carrier from the retracted position to an extended position relative to the bolt assembly by oppositely deflecting the center portion of the diaphragm toward the base, and discontinuing the applying of the actuation force while the bolt carrier is in the extended position.
Multiple chamber pneumatic tire
A multiple chamber pneumatic tire having an upper section and a lower section. A diaphragm separates the upper section from the lower section. The lower section has at least two chambers. The chambers each have a chamber valve, a nail guard layer, a plurality of fibers having an end connected to an inner wall surface of a chamber, and an interconnected barrier connected to at least two portions of a chamber wall surface. The upper section of the tire has at least one linkage located within at least one tube with a primary end connected to a chamber valve of a chamber and a secondary end connected to a tire rim or to a main valve. A tire pressure monitoring system can be in communication with a chamber valve. The tire can have a ring with at least one retractable stud.
