A tire (1), intended in particular for a private passenger vehicle and comprising at least one sidewall (3) with a protuberance of the sidewall (3) close to the connection of the tire with its mounting rim (2), and intended to reduce the aerodynamic drag and hence the resistance to forward motion of the wheel, in order to contribute to the reduction in fuel consumption and hence to the reduction in CO2 emissions. According to the invention, when the tire (1) is mounted on the rim (2) and inflated to a pressure as defined by the “ETRTO” standard, the radially inner end I of the protuberance (6) is positioned radially inside the radially outermost point J of the rim flange (21) at a radial distance H1 at most equal to 10 mm, or radially outside the radially outermost point J of the rim flange (21) at a radial distance H1 at most equal to 4 mm.

Pneumatic tire with rim protector including plurality of recesses

A tire has a rim protector which is formed at a sidewall and which constitutes an annular protrusion that extends in a tire circumferential direction. The rim protector has not less than two recesses that extend toward the tread region from a location toward the bead region in such fashion as to be directed toward a location in a second direction from a location in a first direction in the tire circumferential direction, the not less than two recesses being arranged with spaces therebetween in the tire circumferential direction. A mutually adjacent pair of recesses among the not less than two recesses are in a positional relationship such that they partially overlap as seen when projected onto a virtual plane perpendicular to a tire radial direction.

PNEUMATIC VEHICLE TIRE HAVING A RIM PROTECTION RIB

A pneumatic vehicle tire having a rim protection rib (9), wherein the design of the rim protection rib has the object of having a pneumatic vehicle tire with improved durability, and scaling of the axial width of the rim protection rib is intended to permit only minor effects on the rolling resistance and the durability; this is achieved in that, as viewed in the tire cross section, an axially outer contour (10) of the rim protection rib (9) begins radially on the outside with a convexly curved first region (12) which tangentially adjoins an axially outer contour (11) of the sidewall (6), in that the first region (12) merges radially inward tangentially into a concavely curved second region (13), in that the second region (13) merges tangentially into a convexly curved third region (15), and in that the third region (15) merges tangentially into a fourth region (16) encompassing the axially outermost point (17) of the rim protection rib (9).

A pneumatic tires includes a tread, a pair of sidewalls, and a pair of bead portions that are arranged at intervals wider than a rim width of a corresponding regular rim in a non-rim-assembled state. Each of the pair of the bead portions includes a bead base at an inner diameter side end, a bead heel, and a bead back surface extending from an outer diameter side end of the bead heel, to the outer diameter side. In the non-rim-assembled state, the bead back surface is formed with a recess that is recessed inward in the width direction. In a rim-assembled state, the bead back surface is in close contact with substantially the entire surface of a radial portion of a rim flange of a regular rim.

A tire includes a tread portion, a sidewall portion, and a bead portion. The bead portion includes a bead core that extends continuously in an annular shape in a tire circumferential direction, and a bead filler disposed adjacent to the bead core and outside the bead core in a tire radial direction. Reinforcing cords are provided in the bead portion and the sidewall portion so as to be curved such that inclination angles of the reinforcing cords with respect to the tire circumferential direction gradually increase with nearness to an outside in the tire radial direction.
