A wheel assembly provides an expanded air-pressurization chamber to increase the load capacity of the mounted tire. The wheel assembly includes an axle shaft, including flange plates mounted at opposite ends of the shaft and a mounting disc attached to each flange plate. There is an annular-shaped locking ring attached to each mounting disc. A cylindrical insert assembly is mounted between the pair of locking rings. A central section is defined in the tubular body extending between a pair of annular flange wall portions and includes an array of holes. The tire bead at each inner edge of a tire is located within the annular bead-receiving channels formed between the locking ring and insert assembly. A dual air-pressurization chamber is formed, one radially outward and the other radially inward of the tubular body of the insert assembly.

The present invention is a low profile positive grip rim lock for use on off-road vehicle wheel assemblies utilizing standard safety rims, tires, and inner tubes. The rim lock provides a consistent grip with the bead of a tire regardless of the thickness of the bead of the tire, and never contacts the rim. The low profile eliminates the potential of having a pinch flat when the wheel assembly is impacted at the rim lock location.

The run-flat tire insert is for use with a wheel having flanges, and a corresponding pneumatic tire having sidewall tire beads with a bead lock edge. The run-flat tire insert includes a deformable annular insert member having a generally U-shaped cross-section with a band portion between opposing leg portions extending radially inward towards the wheel. The deformable annular insert member is made of a fiber-reinforced composite material. The deformable annular insert member is configured as a spring that deflects under load and transmits vertical load forces on the band portion to lateral forces at ends of the opposing leg portions adjacent the bead lock edges of the pneumatic tire against the wheel flanges.

A system and method for a tubeless tire insert. The present invention includes an annular body having shock absorbing characteristics. A positioning system configured to vary a mean inner diameter of the insert is also included. The insert has a mean inner diameter X when the tire is being installed on the rim, and the insert has a mean inner diameter Y when the tire is installed on the rim, where X is greater than Y.

The body includes at least one wall defining an air input end and an air output end of the body. The body is attachable to a valve of the tubeless tire at the air input end, such that when air is introduced into the body via the valve, at least some of the air is deflectable by one or more walls of the at least one wall out of the body at the air output end.
