TRUCK TIRE SCRUB INTERVENTION
20220194143 · 2022-06-23 ·

A system and apparatus that reduces tire scrub on a truck and or trailer during turns. The system minimizes the redistribution of the load among the tires thereby spreading the load of the trailer or truck among the tires avoiding unnecessary overloading. The system operates without operator intervention and is capable of operating automatically on trailers, without control signals from the truck.

PICK AND CARRY CRANE SUSPENSION

A crane, in particular a pick and carry crane, may have a front chassis with front wheels and a back chassis with back wheels, the front chassis being articulated relative to the back chassis so that the crane can travel whilst carrying a load suspended from a boom. The back and front wheels have independent suspensions which are capable of connection to one another so that movement of a left wheel influences movement of a right wheel, thereby improving the handing of the crane, particularly over rough terrain.

VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS BASED ON TRAILER HITCH ANGLE

A trailer sway control system for a vehicle includes: a front left active suspension actuator; a front right active suspension actuator; a rear left active suspension actuator; a rear right active suspension actuator; an actuator control module configured to: based on a hitch angle between (a) a first longitudinal axis of a trailer hitched to the vehicle and (b) a second longitudinal axis of the vehicle, determine target vertical forces for the front left active suspension actuator, the front right active suspension actuator, the rear left active suspension actuator, and the rear right active suspension actuator, respectively; and selectively adjust the front left active suspension actuator, the front right active suspension actuator, the rear left active suspension actuator, and the rear right active suspension actuator based on the target vertical forces, respectively.

Vehicle attitude modification

Systems and methods for modifying an attitude of a vehicle are disclosed. A user selects a trailer mode for a vehicle body. The selected trailer mode has a corresponding configuration. The vehicle determines one or more features about a trailer based on the selected trailer mode. The vehicle determines a location of a trailer hitch needed to achieve the configuration corresponding to the selected trailer mode. The location is based on the one or more features about the trailer. The vehicle actuates at least one active component in the vehicle's active suspension system to change the attitude of the vehicle body so as to cause the trailer hitch to be located in the determined location thereby causing the vehicle body to be in the selected trailer mode.

Axle deployment system for use with a towable vehicle

A lift axle system which selectively lowers (and raises) an axle. When wheels of the lift axle system are lowered to the ground, the wheels effectively work to reduce the load supported by the original axles. A percentage of the weight of the rear of the towable vehicle is transferred to the attachment point to its tractor, that is, to the front of the towable vehicle. This helps to better balance the load, making the vehicle more stable on the road. The lift axle system is easy to operate and extends the life of the base system.

HANDLING EVASIVE MANEUVERS IN A TRACTOR-TRAILER VEHICLE COMBINATION

A computer-implemented method for controls stability of a vehicle, being a truck or tractor and at least one trailer comprising at least two wheel axles and an electronically controllable suspension system. The method identifies a possible instability state of the vehicle; determines a type of an event that has caused the possible instability state; determining one or more actions comprising adjusting a load distribution between the at least two wheel axles of the trailer based on the possible instability state and based on the type of the event that has caused the possible instability state; and generates and sending a control command to the suspension system to perform the actions. The actions may comprise adjusting the load distribution between the at least two wheel axles of the trailer such that a load on a rear axle is increased and a load on a front axle is decreased.
