Vehicle control system
A vehicle control system to be mounted in a hybrid electric vehicle includes an engine, a center differential that includes a front-wheel-side output portion and a rear-wheel-side output portion and distributes torque outputted from the engine to a front wheel and a rear wheel, a limited slip differential mechanism that limits a differential between the front-wheel-side output portion and the rear-wheel-side output portion, and a motor disposed in a drive-power transferring system that transfers drive power from the rear-wheel-side output portion to the rear wheel. The vehicle control system includes a processor. When the hybrid electric vehicle is switched from a first traveling mode to a second traveling mode, the processor stops the engine while causing the limited slip differential mechanism to limit the differential between the front-wheel-side output portion and the rear-wheel-side output portion.

TRANSFER CASE WITH VENT/OIL DEFLECTOR ASSEMBLY
A venting arrangement for use with power transfer assemblies of the type used in motor vehicle driveline and drivetrain applications includes a vent oil deflector assembly. The vent oil deflector assembly is associated with an inside wall within an enclosed chamber and is configured to deflect lubricating oil splashed within the chamber away from an air venting passageway. The deflection feature and the venting feature are integrated into a common assembly.
Drive axle system
A drive axle system having a one-way freewheel clutch. The one-way freewheel clutch is configured to transmit torque between first and second axle assembles when an interaxle differential unit is unlocked. The one-way freewheel clutch transmits torque to one of the first axle assembly and the second axle assembly when the interaxle differential unit is locked.
CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING A DRIVELINE
Some embodiments of the present invention provide a control system configured to control a driveline of a motor vehicle to operate in a selected one of a plurality of configurations, the system comprising at least one sensor for sensing an environment ahead of the vehicle and generating a sensor signal in dependence on the environment, the system being configured to cause the driveline to operate in a configuration selected in dependence at least in part on the sensor signal.
DISTRIBUTION OF OIL TO THE INPUT BEARING AND SEAL OF A TRANSFER CASE
A product may include a case, and a shaft that rotates may extend into the case. A bearing may support the shaft at the case. A seal may be positioned around the shaft outboard from the bearing. The bearing may have a first side facing the seal and a second side facing away from the seal. The case may define an inlet to an area between the bearing and the seal. A baffle may extend over the inlet on the second side and radially outside the bearing.
TRI-DRIVE TRANSMISSION FOR REAR MID-ENGINE VEHICLE
An apparatus and methods are provided for a transmission for a rear mid-engine vehicle. The transmission comprises a power transfer portion for receiving torque from the engine and a gearbox for providing conversions of rotational speed and torque. First and second side output portions conduct torque from the gearbox to the rear wheels. A forward output portion conducts torque to front wheels of a four-wheel drive vehicle. An air clutch comprising each output portion controls the degree of torque transferred to each wheel. The output portions are each coupled to a rear wheel by a rear axle, bevel gears, and rear portal gears. The rear axles are aligned with, and positioned above, the trailing arms to protect the rear axles from damage due to rocks and debris. The length and alignment of the rear axles cause CV joints to articulate in the same direction as the trailing arms.
GEAR UNIT FOR A VEHICLE AND POWERTRAIN WITH SUCH A GEAR UNIT
A gear unit has a differential with two planetary gearsets and gearset elements. A first gearset element of the first planetary gearset is connected to an input shaft, a second gearset element of the first planetary gearset is connected to a first output shaft, a third gearset element of the first planetary gearset is connected to a first gearset element of the second planetary gearset, a second gearset element of the second planetary gearset is connected to a housing, and a third gearset element of the second planetary gearset is connected to a second output shaft. A first output torque is transmittable to the first output shaft. A second output torque is transmittable to the second output shaft. An actuation mechanism is arranged between the first and second output shafts for a co-rotationally fixed connection between the output shafts when the actuation mechanism is actuated.
FRONT-REAR WHEEL DRIVING FORCE DISTRIBUTION DEVICE AND FRONT-REAR WHEEL DRIVING FORCE DISTRIBUTION DEVICE CONTROLLER
A front-rear wheel driving force distribution device includes a center differential and a limited slip differential. The limited slip differential includes a first clutch, a second clutch, a first piston, a second piston, and a one-way clutch provided between the first clutch and a rear propeller shaft. If the second clutch is engaged by the second piston, the propeller shaft on the rear side rotates at increased speed as compared with a case where the first clutch is engaged by the first piston. The one-way clutch couples the first clutch and the rear propeller shaft if a number of rotations of the first clutch is same as or higher than a number of rotations of the rear propeller shaft, and idles if the number of rotations of the first clutch is lower than the number of rotations of the rear propeller shaft.
Center differential and drive system for four wheel drive
An on-demand four-wheel drive system includes a differential for the rear axle, a differential for the front axle, and a center differential connecting to the front and rear axle differentials. All three of the differentials contain a bi-directional overrunning roller clutch to enable locking of their respective outputs. The clutches provide a superior on-demand four-wheel drive system that distributes power to each drive wheel to propel the vehicle.
