HEAT MITIGATION FOR REARVIEW ASSEMBLY
A system for controlling temperatures within a rearview assembly may comprise a rearview assembly having a housing defining an opening and at least one of a display element and an electro-optic element disposed in the opening; and an in-cabin monitoring system comprising at least one printed circuit board; an imager disposed on one of the at least one printed circuit boards, an image signal processor in communication with the imager, at least one light source, and at least one heat spreader positioned within the housing. The heat spreader may be stamped aluminum. The imager may be at a distance from the at least one light source.
HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY SYSTEM
A display system for a vehicle includes a display unit mounted to the vehicle and is selectively operable in a first mode as a holographic display and in a second mode as a mirror. Holographic images may include rear view images obtained from a camera or computer generated graphics. Holographic images are displayed at a virtual image plane behind the display to reduce the operator's eyes accommodation.
Frameless interior rearview mirror assembly
A vehicular frameless interior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head and a mounting portion. The mirror head includes a mirror reflective element and a mirror casing. The mirror reflective element includes a glass substrate having a planar front side and a planar rear side. No portion of the mirror casing overlaps the planar front side of the glass substrate of the mirror reflective element. A camera is disposed within the mirror casing. With the mounting portion of the mirror assembly mounted at an in-cabin side of a windshield of a vehicle, the camera views a driver of the vehicle, and when the mirror head is moved by the driver of the vehicle to adjust the rearward view provided by the mirror reflective element to the driver, the camera moves in tandem with movement of the mirror head. The camera is part of a driver monitoring system of the vehicle.
Vehicular rearview mirror assembly
A vehicular rearview mirror assembly includes an electrochromic reflective element having front and rear glass substrates with an electrochromic medium disposed therebetween. The front glass substrate includes a specularly reflective perimeter layer at least partially around a perimeter border region of the rear side of the front glass substrate. At least one light source is disposed behind the perimeter layer. With the vehicular rearview mirror assembly mounted at the vehicle and when the at least one light source is electrically powered, the at least one light source emits light that passes through the perimeter border region of the second side of the front glass substrate and that is visible to a viewer viewing the first side of the front glass substrate of the electrochromic reflective element at the perimeter layer.
MIRROR REFLECTIVE ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY FOR EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR OF A VEHICLE
A mirror reflective element sub-assembly for an exterior rearview mirror assembly of a vehicle includes a mirror reflective element, a heater pad, a mirror back plate, and a blind spot indicator module attached at a rear side of the back plate. The heater pad is adhered at the rear of the reflective element with a light transmitting aperture of the heater pad juxtaposed with a light transmitting aperture of the mirror reflector of the reflective element. The heater pad is adhered at the mirror back plate with its light transmitting aperture juxtaposed with a light transmitting aperture of the mirror back plate. Light emitted by the blind spot indicator module passes through a light-transmitting aperture of the mirror reflector to provide an illuminated icon to a driver of the vehicle when a blind spot detection system of the vehicle detects the presence of another vehicle in an adjacent lane.
REAR-VIEW MIRROR
A rear-view mirror includes an electrochromic film, a first glass layer, a second glass layer, a first transparent adhesive layer, a second transparent adhesive layer and a sealing structure layer. The first glass layer and the second glass layer are located on two faces of the electrochromic film respectively, the first transparent adhesive layer is located between the first glass layer and the electrochromic film, the second transparent adhesive layer is located between the second glass layer and the electrochromic film, the sealing structure layer is located on edges of the first glass layer and the second glass layer, the sealing structure layer, the first glass layer and the second glass layer form a sealing structure, and the electrochromic film is sealed in the sealing structure.
VEHICULAR REARVIEW MIRROR CONTROL SYSTEM
A vehicular rearview mirror control system includes a plurality of rearview mirror assemblies having variable reflectance mirror reflective elements. An electronic control unit receives image data captured by a rear backup camera of the vehicle. The rearview mirror control system, responsive to processing a first subset of received image data captured by the rear backup camera, determines ambient light rearward of the vehicle. The rearview mirror control system, responsive to processing a second subset of received image data captured by the rear backup camera, determines glare light emanating from a headlight of another vehicle following the equipped vehicle. The first subset of received image data is different than the second subset of received image data. The rearview mirror control system generates an output to control dimming of respective ones of the mirror reflective elements of the plurality of rearview mirror assemblies based on location of the determined glare light.
REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY HAVING A MICRO-LED ILLUMINATION SUBASSEMBLY
A rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror element including a first substrate having a first surface and a second surface. A reflector is disposed adjacent to one of the first and second surfaces. The rearview mirror assembly further includes a lighting subassembly includes a light source and a diffuser. The light source is operable to project light through the mirror element. The diffuser is disposed between the light source and the mirror element. The light source comprises a plurality of micro light-emitting diodes arranged in a light shape representing a display icon such that the display icon is projected through the mirror element without any influence on the shape caused by any other component of the mirror element.
Vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly
A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mounting arm and a mirror head at one end of the mounting arm distal from an attachment portion of the mounting arm that is configured for attachment at a vehicle. A mirror reflective element is fixedly attached at the mirror head. An innermost side of the mirror reflective element is attached at a front side of an attachment plate. The mirror reflective element moves in tandem with movement of the mirror head relative to the mounting arm when the driver of the vehicle operates an electrically-operable actuator. The attachment plate includes wall structure that extends from the front side of the attachment plate and circumscribes and spans the perimeter circumferential edge of the glass substrate and does not encroach onto and does not overlap the front surface of the glass substrate of the exterior mirror reflective element.
