Tear inducing apparatus for PAB door and manufacturing method thereof
Conventional tear inducing ribs are replaced with pockets so that a contact area is increased so as to stably induce a tear of a scoring line. According to the present invention, a tear inducing apparatus for a passenger airbag (PAB) door includes a scoring line disposed on the PAB door and configured to be opened when an airbag cushion deploys, and a plurality of tear inducing pockets disposed on both sides of the scoring line to face each other and arranged in a longitudinal direction of the scoring line. Each of the plurality of pockets includes an empty inner space and a ridge including a flat portion positioned toward the airbag cushion.
Airbag device
An airbag device including: a folded airbag; an attachment member configured to house the folded airbag and to be fixed to the vehicle; and an airbag lid including a main body portion and a protruding support portion. The main body portion is connected to the attachment member in a state of covering the folded airbag from a side opposite to the attachment member. The protruding support portion protrudes from the main body portion. At least a part of the protruding support portion is covered by the trim. The protruding support portion includes: a base end side edge portion joined to the main body portion; a tip end side edge portion provided on a side opposite to the base end side edge portion; a locking portion attaching to the trim; and a reinforcing portion provided continuously along the tip end side edge portion.
Methods and systems for pre-fixing an airbag module during installation
Various implementations include a steering assembly including a hub assembly and airbag module. The hub assembly includes one or more hub assembly attachment tabs each defining a fastener opening. The airbag module includes one or more airbag module attachment tabs each defining a fastener opening. One of the hub assembly or the airbag module includes one or more temporary fasteners, and each of the temporary fasteners is couplable to a portion of the other of the hub assembly or the airbag module. One of the hub assembly or the airbag module includes one or more alignment portions structured to align each fastener opening in the hub assembly attachment tabs with a respective fastener opening in one of the airbag module attachment tabs when the temporary fasteners of the hub assembly or the airbag module are coupled to the portion of the other of the hub assembly or the airbag module.
Vehicle airbag assembly and associated method of forming
An assembly includes an airbag, a trim panel, and an airbag container having a sidewall defining a cavity receiving the airbag. The airbag container has an opening through which the airbag is deployable. A flexible membrane cover extends over the opening. A spacer portion is coupled to the membrane cover. The spacer portion is configured to extend proud of the sidewall. The spacer portion resides within a gap between the trim panel and the airbag container and touches the trim panel to resist deflection of the trim panel.
Airbag mounting tab assembly
An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes a curtain airbag inflatable from a stored condition to a deployed condition in which the curtain airbag is positioned between a side structure of the vehicle and the vehicle occupant. The curtain airbag comprises a mounting tab comprising overlying layers of airbag material that define a pocket and through each of which a mounting tab aperture extends. A bracket comprises a plate with a bracket aperture extending therethrough. The bracket is positioned in the pocket so that the bracket aperture is aligned with the mounting tab apertures. A fastener has a portion extending though the mounting tab apertures and the bracket aperture. The fastener blocks the bracket from removal from the pocket.
Concentrator strap for seat-mounted airbag
A vehicle seat includes an airbag and a concentrator strap that facilitates simplified assembly and enhanced airbag performance. The concentrator strap includes an attachment feature that cooperates with a corresponding feature of the seat frame in a manner that reduces cost, cycle time, and assembly errors. The concentrator strap extends over the airbag module and into an attachment opening, where an attachment tab engages the seat frame. The concentrator strap can be pre-attached to a seat cover and extended to engage the seat frame after the seat cover is partially installed over the seat frame, as the attachment tab can be configured for engagement without the need for special tools.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE
An occupant protection device of the present embodiment includes a lower panel and an airbag device disposed on a front side of a lower end portion of the lower panel with a gap. The airbag device includes an airbag that is deployed and inflated so as to rise from a lower side of the lower end portion of the lower panel to the side of a back surface, as a design surface, of the lower panel to protect the knee of the occupant when inflation gas flows in, and a blocking member that rotates backward and blocks the gap when the airbag is inflated. A contact surface portion which is contact with the blocking member that rotates backward is formed on the lower end portion of the lower panel. The contact surface is formed on the lower side of a flange portion that extends forward from a bent portion.
Vehicle Occupant Restraint Device
An occupant restraining device capable of coping with a plurality of collision directions without additional airbags is provided. An occupant restraining device (100) is adapted to restrain an occupant P sitting in a vehicle seat (110), and the device includes a seatbelt (120) fixed to left and right sides of a seat cushion (116) of the seat to restrain the occupant's hips (P2), airbags (130a) and (130b) stored inside a seat back of the seat on the left and right sides thereof and inflated and deployed on the left and right sides of the occupant. Tensile fabric (140) is connected to each of the airbags and the seat cushion and applied with tension, when the airbags are inflated and deployed, so as to be extended between the airbags inflated and deployed and both side surfaces of the seat cushion.
Trim attachment system
A trim attachment system for a vehicle is provided herein. The trim attachment system includes first and second vehicle surfaces. A first fastener may be coupled to the first vehicle surface and may be configured for releasable engagement with a second fastener that is coupled to the second vehicle surface. Each of the first and second fasteners may include a substrate and a plurality of engaging stems protruding outward from the substrate. The plurality of engaging stems may be arranged into rows and columns on the substrate. The first fastener may be configured to be coupled to the second fastener, such that the plurality of engaging stems of the first fastener engage the plurality of engaging stems of the second fastener and the rows of the first fastener are generally perpendicular to the rows of the second fastener.
