A vehicle includes a seating assembly attached to a vehicle interior. A seat is rotationally operable relative to a seatback. A retention device is selectively positionable in a stored position or a cargo storage position and extends between the seatback and a floor area disposed adjacent to the seating assembly. The retention device in the cargo storage position, the seat in the stadium position, and a floor at least partially define an enclosure configured to secure cargo to the floor and the seat.

A first strap assembly generates a first strap locked signal when a first baggage item of the first passenger is placed in the vehicle storage compartment, engaged with the first baggage item and closed defining a strap assembly closed condition. A passenger and baggage identification system receives the seatbelt locked signal and the first strap locked signal and links the first passenger to the first seat and the first baggage item to the first passenger.

The present invention is comprised of a color changing device in the form of film or fabric that can be either integrated with a vehicle seatbelt or an add-on device that can be easily attached to the seatbelt. The color changing device will change its color when experiencing external stress. Different colors will indicate different external load applied to the seatbelt, which is used to determine if the seatbelt is properly tightened to secure a CRS. The invention can also be integrated into cargo mounting webbing to indicate webbing tightness used for securing and transporting cargo on trucks or other vehicles.

The disclosed restraint system for use in securing an article in a vehicle may include a tether member having a first end and a second end opposite the first end, a clasp member coupled to the first end, a buckle member coupled to the second end and configured to be receivably engaged by a seat belt buckle receptacle, and an adjustable strap assembly operable to connect two surfaces of the tether member to provide a holding tension therebetween. The adjustable strap assembly may be utilized to adjust a size of an opening of a tether loop formed by the tether member to fit the tether member around a seat belt buckle receptacle and/or seat belt webbing.

A restraint system for a vehicle, includes a rotatable reel, a flexible tether, a first shaft and a conductor member. The flexible tether has a first end coupled to the reel and a second end. The tether is wound upon the rotatable reel and movable in both a winding direction and an unwinding direction. The first shaft is configured to be operably coupled to the rotatable reel, and includes a plurality of magnetic elements affixed thereto. The conductor member has a hollow interior. At least a portion of the first shaft and at least a portion of the plurality of magnetic elements are disposed within the hollow interior. Movement of the tether in the unwinding direction causes relative movement between the plurality of magnets and the conductor member. Eddy currents within the conduct member generate a retarding force on the first shaft.
