Seatbelt system with inflatable cushions
Vehicle safety systems comprising seatbelts and inflatable cushions deployable therefrom. Some embodiments comprise a first vertical seatbelt having a first inflatable cushion coupled thereto and a second vertical seatbelt having a second inflatable cushion coupled thereto. The first inflatable cushion and the second inflatable cushion may be configured to inflate at an at least substantially static location relative to an adjacent seat and may be configured to deploy adjacent to an occupant's chest and to inhibit movement of an occupant's head during an impact event. The system may further comprise a horizontal seatbelt coupled with one or both of the first vertical seatbelt and the second vertical seatbelt.
Motor vehicle and occupant seat combination
A motor vehicle and occupant seat combination may include any one or combination of means for selectively preventing forward pivoting of at least one vehicle seat, one or more web attenuators for dampen forces applied thereby by one or more respective shoulder webs of at least one occupant restraint system, at least one sleeve received on at least one shoulder web and a corresponding sleeve adjuster for adjusting a position of the sleeve along the respective shoulder web, and one or more ratcheting web retractors for selectively tightening a lap web or a thigh web about an occupant of at least one vehicle seat.
Seatbelt assembly with enhanced shoulder belt positioning
Seatbelt assemblies for motor vehicle occupant restraint providing enhanced frontal impact restraint characteristics. Embodiments illustrated a displacement of the intersection positioned between the lap and shoulder belt portions of an active three-point type belt system. In one set of embodiments particularly useful with dual retractor systems, adaptive positioning provisions allow the point of intersection to initially occur at or near the seatbelt latch plate and when a restraint load occurs components release to allow repositioning of the intersection. In other embodiments best implemented in single retractor systems, a turning loop is provided which displaces the webbing slot separating the lap and shoulder belt sections from the buckle latch plate.
DUAL THREE-POINT RESTRAINT SYSTEM
A restraint system is disclosed for use in vehicle seats that provides enhanced occupant restraint while minimizing belt loading injuries, is intuitive to don and remove, and includes an emergency release feature to allow rapid seat egress by eliminating continuous belt loops. The restraint uses improved belt routing to minimize upper torso rotation, which is critical for vehicles where occupant flail injuries from contact with the vehicle interior are likely. The installed restraint includes a crisscross belt pattern across both the occupant's upper torso and pelvis region, with an alternate configuration which incorporates a single lap belt. The restraint has demonstrated significantly reduced upper torso rotation compared to the current state-of-the-art, 5-point restraint system when exposed to a typical aerospace combined vertical and longitudinal crash pulse yet is as intuitive to don as the typical automotive-style 3-point restraint system.
Seat belt device
A seat belt device includes a webbing, a locking tongue, and a guide. The webbing includes a lap belt and a shoulder belt. The locking tongue is configured to undergo a change from a free state, in which the webbing is capable of passing between a side of the lap belt and a side of the shoulder belt, to a lock state, in which the webbing is not capable of passing between the side of the lap belt and the side of the shoulder belt, in accordance with a collision or a warning of the collision of a vehicle. The guide is configured to, in accordance with the collision or the warning of the collision of the vehicle, displace a location on the shoulder belt that is adjacent to the locking tongue in a direction away from the occupant before the change to the lock state is completed.
VEHICLE SIDE COLLISION OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM
A safety restraint system for a vehicle that includes seat belts that extend over both side pelvic portions and both side rib cage portions of the vehicle occupant and directly prevents inward and outward lateral displacement of the side pelvic portions and side rib cage portions during a side collision event. Said side belts attach to a forward-facing seat belt system with two shoulder belts, one on either side of the neck, for improved performance on the torso in a collision event, and a lap belt, while still maintaining the convenience of a single buckle click task for the occupant to secure the belt system.
Safety belt positioning and presentation systems
A safety belt presentation system includes a safety belt presentation track extending from a first position to a second position spaced from the first position, a latch that includes a tongue disposed between a first side of the latch and second side of the latch and a first coupling portion, and a driving mechanism that includes a second coupling portion configured to releasably couple the first coupling portion of the latch. The driving mechanism is configured to control the latch to move from the first position to the second position along the safety belt presentation track when the first and second coupling portions are coupled.
HARNESS SYSTEM WITH A BUCKLE RESTRAINING FUNCTION
A harness system with a buckle restraining function is provided and includes an upper buckle, an upper strap and a restraining device. The upper strap slidably passes through the upper buckle and includes a waist portion and a shoulder portion divided by the upper buckle. The restraining device utilizes an anti-sliding structure with high friction coefficient for engaging with the upper strap and further utilizes a stopping component for abutting against the upper buckle, which effectively restrains the upper buckle from sliding relative to the upper strap toward the waist portion for preventing a passenger's injury due to an excessive decrease of a length of the waist portion when the shoulder portion is forced during a collision or an emergency brake of a vehicle.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING SEAT BELT WEARING
A seat belt wearing determination apparatus including an image sensor unit which captures a front image of a vehicle occupant, a portion detection unit which detects a chest portion and a pelvis portion of the occupant using the image, an image segmentation unit which obtains a first target region related to a seat belt by segmenting a partial image of the chest portion of the occupant into a plurality of regions and obtains a second target region related to the seat belt by segmenting a partial image of the pelvis portion into a plurality of regions, and a control unit which determines that the seat belt is worn normally when a first area value of the first target region is greater than a preset first reference value and a second area value of the second target region is greater than a preset second reference value.
