An occupant protection device including a seat belt including a shoulder belt and a lap belt, a locking tongue that is detachably joined to a buckle, that allows the seat belt to pass therethrough, and that is capable of switching between an unlock state in which the seat belt is allowed to move with the locking tongue being between the shoulder belt and the lap belt and a lock state in which movement thereof is restricted, a shoulder-belt puller that is capable of pulling the shoulder belt to apply a tensile force thereto, a side-collision detector that detects a side collision or a precursor thereof, and a control unit that changes a state of the locking tongue into the lock state and causes the shoulder-belt puller to pull the shoulder belt when the side-collision detector detects the side collision that occurs opposite an occupant or the precursor thereof.
VEHICLE SIDE COLLISION OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM
A safety restraint system for a vehicle that includes seat belts that extend over both side pelvic portions and both side rib cage portions of the vehicle occupant and directly prevents inward and outward lateral displacement of the side pelvic portions and side rib cage portions during a side collision event. Said side belts attach to a forward-facing seat belt system with two shoulder belts, one on either side of the neck, for improved performance on the torso in a collision event, and a lap belt, while still maintaining the convenience of a single buckle click task for the occupant to secure the belt system.
RESTRAINT SYSTEM INCLUDING A RESETTABLE WEB TENSIONING DEVICE
An apparatus for tensioning an occupant restraint harness coupled to an occupant seat mountable in a motor vehicle, wherein the occupant restraint harness includes first and second lap webs securable about an occupant of the seat, may include a web tensioning device configured to be attached to a rear side of the occupant seat, the web tensioning device having an actuated state and an unactuated state, and a mechanical movement converter configured to be attached to the rear side of the occupant seat and having an input operatively coupled to the web tensioning device, a first output coupled to the first lap web and a second output coupled to the second lap web, the mechanical movement converter responsive to a transition of the web tensioning device from the unactuated state to the actuated state to simultaneously apply tension to the first and second lap webs.
ADAPTIVE DYNAMIC LAP BELT POSITION CONTROL SYSTEM
A vehicle seat system includes a seat including a seat back and a seat base and a passive restraint system mounted adjacent to the seat. The passive restraint system includes a lap belt. A belt adjuster is mounted at the seat. The belt adjuster includes a member operable to engage and shift the lap belt away from the seat back upon being exposed to a selected deceleration force.
OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION AND VEHICLE SEAT
An occupant crash protection includes: a seatbelt that restrains a front-seat occupant sitting in a front seat; a retractor that is installed inside a seatback of the front seat and reels in one end side of the seatbelt, inserted inside the seatback, so as to allow the seatbelt to be pulled out; and a rear-seat airbag module that is installed inside the seatback, on a seat rear side relative to the seatbelt, and inflates and deploys an airbag toward the seat rear side of the seatback while inflating a part of the airbag toward a seat front side so as to press the seatbelt toward the seat front side.
Passenger restraint pretensioner
An assembly includes a housing. The assembly includes a spool rotatable relative to the housing. The assembly includes a cable fixed to the spool. The assembly includes a passenger restraint fixed to the cable. The assembly includes a pyrotechnic device fixed relative to the housing and designed to rotate the spool relative to the housing. The assembly includes a ratchet-and-pawl mechanism between the housing and the spool.

The present invention relates to a tensioning device for a seat belt device, with a gas generator for generating a pressurized gas, a piston that can be driven by the pressurized gas, a tension cable connected to the piston, which tension cable can be connected to a safety belt component that is to be set into a tensioning movement and which tension cable extends through the piston, a guide part arranged on the tension cable, and a tensioning tube for receiving the piston and the guide part, which is characterized in that the guide part is arranged on the side of the piston facing away from the gas generator and is movable relative to the piston.

A system (100) and method (900) for assessing for protecting the occupant (70) of a vehicle (50) during a rear crash (62). The system (100) can use a wide variety of assemblies, subassembly, and component configurations to protect the occupant (70) from undesirable kinematics (91). Such a system (100) can among other components include an anti-ramping guide (272) and/or a rear pretensioner (305).
SEATBELT SYSTEM HAVING A PRETENSIONER AND A LOCKING MECHANISM
A system for providing occupant restraint includes a seatbelt, a tensioning mechanism, and a locking mechanism. The seatbelt may include an upper portion and a lower portion, or just a single span. The tensioning mechanism is configured to remove slack in one or more portions of the seatbelt in response to an event such as an impact event. The locking mechanism is configured to lock an end of the seatbelt after the tensioning mechanism removes the slack, to prevent the seatbelt from extending. A connector may be included that defines an upper portion of the seatbelt and a lower portion of the seatbelt. The tensioning mechanism may include a load limiter to lessen a force transmitted to the seatbelt during tensioning. The load limiter may include an energy absorption element. The tensioning mechanism and the locking mechanism may be coupled to either span.
