A method and device for determining a possible deceleration variable of a brake system of a vehicle, wherein the brake system has at least one brake, includes providing a possible control variable value that corresponds to an actual control variable value that can be set by the brake system, wherein the at least one brake is designed to generate a deceleration variable in response to a control variable of said actual control variable value; providing a brake system model that is designed to determine a deceleration variable of the at least one brake from an input control variable value; inputting the possible control variable value into the brake system model; and determining a possible deceleration variable of the at least one brake that corresponds to the possible control variable value by way of the brake system model.
TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM
A trailer braking system comprises a vehicles having a continuously-variable hydrostatic transmission, and a trailer coupled for towing by the vehicle and having an associated braking system operable from the vehicle. The vehicle transmission includes a first pressure sensor arranged to measure a fluid pressure at a predetermined point within the transmission, and a rotation sensor arranged to determine a rotation direction of a predetermined component in a driveline of the vehicle. A control unit coupled to the first pressure sensor and rotation sensor determines when a PUSH condition exists based on a particular combination of pressure and rotational direction, and operates the trailer brakes in response. One or more back-up systems to confirm the existence of a PUSH condition may be provided.

An electropneumatic control module for an electronically controllable pneumatic brake system for a vehicle combination with a tractor vehicle and a trailer vehicle includes a pneumatic reservoir input, which is connectable to a compressed-air reservoir, a trailer control unit, which has a trailer control valve unit with one or more electropneumatic valves, a trailer brake pressure port and a trailer supply pressure port, an immobilizing brake unit, which has a spring-type actuator port for a spring-type actuator for a tractor vehicle and an immobilizing brake valve unit with one or more electropneumatic valves, and an electronic control unit for controlling the trailer control valve unit and the immobilizing brake valve unit. The trailer control unit has a first relay valve, which has a relay valve working input connected to the reservoir input, a relay valve output connected to the trailer brake pressure port, and a relay valve ventilation output.
BRAKE CONTROL UNIT
Towed vehicles can be extremely heavy. Accordingly, it is too much of a burden to the braking system of a towing vehicle to not have brakes on the towed vehicle. Controlling the brakes of the towed vehicle must be accurately applied otherwise very dangerous conditions can be created. A method of controlling braking of a towed vehicle is, therefore, needed. The method comprises receiving speed signals based on speed of a towing vehicle, or a towed vehicle, or both said towing vehicle and said towed vehicle, receiving pressure signals based on pressure of a hydraulic brake system of the towing vehicle, and generating a brake output signal based on the speed signals and the pressure signals.

A method for controlling a vehicle brake system for a heavy duty vehicle including a primary brake system and an auxiliary brake system. The method includes configuring a wheel slip magnitude limit, obtaining a requested auxiliary brake torque, engaging the primary brake system at a torque determined in dependence of the requested auxiliary brake torque, while monitoring a wheel slip value, determining an allowable auxiliary brake torque in dependence of the requested auxiliary brake torque and the wheel slip value, and engaging the auxiliary brake system at the allowable auxiliary brake torque.
METHOD, DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATICALLY BRAKING COMMERCIAL VEHICLE
A method for automatically braking a commercial vehicle includes: providing a plurality of ultrasonic radars on a front vehicle body of a target commercial vehicle, the ultrasonic radars being configured to detect a region before the target commercial vehicle in a gapless manner, an active speed range being set for each ultrasonic radar; acquiring a current speed of the target commercial vehicle in real time and calculating a safe distance for each ultrasonic radar in accordance with the current speed; and detecting whether there is an obstacle within the safe distance in real time, and when there is the obstacle within the safe distance, transmitting a decelerating or braking instruction to an execution system of the target commercial vehicle.
Method for testing a pressure-medium-operated electronic brake system
A method for testing a pressure-medium-operated electronic brake system of a vehicle having a valve and sensor device including a control pressure inlet, a control pressure outlet, a plurality of valves selected from electrically activated inlet valves, outlet valves, redundancy valves, and pressure valves, an actual pressure sensor for measuring an actual control pressure, a setpoint pressure sensor for measuring a setpoint control pressure, and an electronic control unit, which has a signal-conducting connection to the electrically activated valves and pressure sensors, for receiving pressure signals and actuating the electrically activated valves, includes testing the setpoint pressure sensor while the control unit is in a passive operating mode, passing the setpoint control pressure directly through to the control pressure outlet, measuring the actual pressure at the control pressure outlet using a sensor, and transmitting the measured value to the control unit for plausibility checking against the setpoint pressure measurement.
Fault tolerant modualted trailer braking system
A system and method of controlling individual trailer brakes on a towed trailer supporting numerous fault tolerant behaviors including activating each operational brake when a brake is shorted. System operates in multiple modes where it operates with traditional brake controllers, operates in a degraded braking mode without a brake controller and in the preferred mode it retrieves vehicle information from tow vehicle and then communicates with a brake actuator controller over the trailer brake wire. When braking system includes wheel sensors traditional antilock releases are provided and unlike other braking systems this brake actuator controller can maintain wheel speeds below the trailer speed reducing or eliminating periodic wheel releases. System also diagnoses the mechanical operation of the trailer brakes including; identifying when brake adjustment is required, when brake friction surfaces are degrading, as well as diagnosing sensors, braking signals and brake actuator interfaces.
CONTROL OF A REDUNDANT BRAKE DEVICE SYSTEM
A braking system for a heavy duty vehicle includes a first brake controller arranged to control braking on a first wheel and a second brake controller arranged to control braking on a second wheel, based on a respective configured wheel slip limit and on a respective brake torque request, wherein the first and the second brake controllers are interconnected via a back-up connection arranged to allow one of the first and the second brake controller to assume braking control of the wheel of the other of the first and the second brake controller in case of brake controller failure, the braking system comprising a control unit arranged to, in response to brake controller failure, reduce the configured wheel slip limit associated with the failed brake controller to a reduced wheel slip limit.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING BRAKING AND/OR TRACTION OF A VEHICLE
A method for controlling braking and/or traction of a vehicle is provided. The methods includes determining by the vehicle control unit a desired slip value based on vehicle state parameters, the desired slip value being communicated to the braking control unit and to the traction control unit, measuring or estimating a slip measure or estimation from wheel parameters collected on the at least wheel tire by the sensor, the slip measure or estimation being communicated to the braking control unit and/or to the traction control unit controlling a wheel slip by the braking control unit and by the traction control unit, based on the desired slip value and the slip measure or estimation.
