A vehicle control system having a subsystem controller for initiating control of a first group of at least one vehicle subsystem in a selected one of a plurality of subsystem control modes each corresponding to one or more different driving conditions; and an estimator module for evaluating at least one driving condition indicator to determine the extent to which each of the subsystem control modes is appropriate and for providing an output indicative of the subsystem control mode that is most appropriate. The estimator module is configured to increase the probability to which the at least one off-road driving mode is determined appropriate in dependence on at least one terrain indicator. In an automatic response mode the subsystem controller selects the most appropriate one of the subsystem control modes for each subsystem of the first group in dependence on the output.
ROUTE-BASED SELECTIONS OF VEHICLE PARAMETER SETS
In some examples, a controller receives information of a route of a vehicle, and selects a first parameter set from among a plurality of parameter sets based on the route of the vehicle, the plurality of parameter sets corresponding to different conditions of usage of the vehicle, where each parameter set of the plurality of parameter sets includes one or more parameters that control adjustment of one or more respective adjustable elements of the vehicle. The controller causes application of the first parameter set to control a setting of the one or more adjustable elements of the vehicle.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE CONFIGURATION OF A TRUCK
A method for controlling configuration of a truck includes identifying a current operating situation of the truck, implementing one of a plurality of sets of configuration parameters associated with the current operating situation, wherein each set of configuration parameters comprises at least two different configuration parameters related respectively to a ground-linking system and a powertrain system of the truck, and wherein said plurality of sets of configuration parameters comprises at least a default set of configuration parameters associated with a default driving operating situation and an off-road set of configuration parameters associated with an off-road operating situation.
Situation-based vehicle configuration
Particular embodiments may enable configuring settings of a vehicle in a designated mode. A signal to place the vehicle in a designated mode may be received. A roll angle and a pitch angle of the vehicle as parked may be assessed based on data received from a position sensor built into the vehicle. Signals to adjust an electronically controlled suspension of the vehicle to reduce the roll angle or the pitch angle so that the vehicle is level as parked may be sent based on the assessed roll angle and pitch angle exceeding a threshold value. One or more settings of the vehicle to change default operating characteristics by the vehicle while in the designated mode may be modified.
Parking assist system
A parking assist system includes: a control device configured to execute a driving process for autonomously moving a vehicle to a target position; a steering operation member configured to receive a steering operation performed by an occupant; a vehicle state detecting device; and a notification device configured to make a notification to the occupant. In the driving process, the control device executes vehicle speed control and steering control. When, during execution of the driving process, the control device determines that the vehicle is a suspension state in which the driving process should be temporarily suspended, the control device causes the notification device to output a prescribed notification and executes a suspension process. In the suspension process, the control device executes the vehicle speed control to stop the vehicle and stops the steering control.

The instructions include instructions to park a vehicle at the parking position within the parking area.

A processor unit (3) is configured for executing an MPC algorithm (13) for model predictive control of a prime mover (8) and of at least one vehicle component influencing energy efficiency of a motor vehicle. The MPC algorithm (13) includes a longitudinal dynamic model (14) of the drive train (7) and of the vehicle component influencing the energy efficiency of the motor vehicle (1) as well as a cost function (15) to be minimized. The cost function (15) includes at least one first term. The processor unit (3) is configured for determining a particular input variable for the prime mover (8) and for the at least one vehicle component influencing the energy efficiency of the motor vehicle (1) by executing the MPC algorithm (13) as a function of a particular term such that the cost function (15) is minimized.
Vehicle deceleration system
A vehicle includes a control system, a sensing system that senses an environment of the vehicle, and a propulsion system, a braking system, and a steering system that are operated by the control system to navigate the vehicle according to the sensing system and without direct human control. The propulsion system and the braking system are operated by the control system to cooperatively decelerate the vehicle. The braking system includes an inboard friction brake that is associated with one or more wheels of the vehicle and does not form unsprung mass of the vehicle.
