A battery discharge limit control system is provided. The system includes a motor driven by receiving the power stored in a battery and a clutch connected to the rotary shaft of the motor. Additionally, an engine includes the rotary shaft connected to the rotary shaft of the motor through the clutch and a transmission changes the rotational speed of the rotary shaft of the motor or the engine based on the input of the shift stage instruction to output the rotational speed to a driving wheel of a vehicle. A controller opens the clutch and drives the motor in the reverse rotation, when the input of the shift stage instruction is a reverse shift stage.
Powertrain system
A control device of a powertrain system executes a control input determination processing and a system control processing. The control input determination processing includes a co-state variable determination processing to update a co-state variable p of an optimization problem for each time step and a control input calculation processing. The co-state variable determination processing includes an initial value determination processing that determines, as an initial value of the co-state variable p, the sum of a base value of the initial value and an external charge/discharge correction value. The base value is a final value or an average value of the co-state variable p during the last control time period. The external charge/discharge correction value is determined based on an external charge/discharge amount obtained by subtracting a SOC at the end of the last control time period from the SOC at the start of the current control time period.

A propulsion system for a hybrid electric vehicle comprises a traction motor having first and second stator windings; a power source having a DC power output coupled to the first windings; a battery having a DC power output coupled to the second windings; and a controller to independently control: (i) a first power level output at the first DC power output, and (ii) a second power level of motive power output by the traction motor; wherein responsive to a signal to set the second power level less than full capacity of the traction motor, the controller provides a power difference between the first and second power levels from the second windings to the battery.

A method for controlling a hybrid vehicle includes an engine, a battery charged with electric power generated by the engine, and a motor as a drive source and having multiple running modes that can be selected through a mode operation. As the running mode, the method for controlling a hybrid vehicle includes a normal mode configured to perform charging of the battery according to a running state; and a charge mode configured to electric power generation by the engine according to a mode operation, the method comprising setting an upper limit of charging electric power based on the generated electric power in the charge mode to be lower than an upper limit of charging electric power based on the generated electric power in the normal mode.

A hybrid vehicle control method controls a hybrid vehicle having an electric power source, a vehicle electrical equipment and drive motor to which electric power is supplied from the electric power source. The vehicle electrical equipment and the drive motor are electrically connected to the electric power source via at least a shared harness. When a temperature of the harness is equal to or greater than a predetermined temperature, upper limit values of electric power supplied from the electric power source to the vehicle electrical equipment and the drive motor are both reduced, and a degree of reduction in the upper limit value for the vehicle equipment is greater than a degree of reduction in the upper limit value for the drive motor.
VEHICLE ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND RELATED METHODS
A through the road (TTR) hybridization strategy is proposed to facilitate introduction of hybrid electric vehicle technology in a significant portion of current and expected trucking fleets. In some cases, the technologies can be retrofitted onto an existing vehicle (e.g., a truck, a tractor unit, a trailer, a tractor-trailer configuration, at a tandem, etc.). In some cases, the technologies can be built into new vehicles. In some cases, one vehicle may be built or retrofitted to operate in tandem with another and provide the hybridization benefits contemplated herein. By supplementing motive forces delivered through a primary drivetrain and fuel-fed engine with supplemental torque delivered at one or more electrically-powered drive axles, improvements in overall fuel efficiency and performance may be delivered, typically without significant redesign of existing components and systems that have been proven in the trucking industry.
DIAGNOSTIC AND CONTROL METHOD FOR A VEHICLE SYSTEM
Methods and systems are provided for controlling and diagnosing a mechanical vehicle component. In one example, a method may include determining an input device state and an electric machine torque at a diagnostic controller, and identifying a fault condition based on these determinations. Further, the diagnostic controller may trigger an active fault state of the mechanical vehicle component to avoid unintended vehicle acceleration, particularly at low speeds.
VOLTAGE CONTROLLED AIRCRAFT ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEM
A voltage controlled aircraft electric propulsion system includes an electric propulsion system. The voltage controlled aircraft electric propulsion system may include electric propulsors providing thrust for the aircraft. In hybrid systems, a gas turbine engine may also be included. The electric propulsion system may include at least one electric generator power source, at least one propulsor motor load, and at least one stored energy power source, such as a battery. The propulsor motor load may be supplied power from a power supply bus. The voltage of the power supply bus may be adjusted according to an altitude of the aircraft while maintaining a substantially constant current flow to the propulsor motor load. Due to the adjustment to lower voltages at increased altitude, insulations levels may be lower.
