Running gear for a rail vehicle and associated rail vehicle

A running gear for a rail vehicle includes one or more wheel sets, each having a revolution axis and each being guided by a pair of transversally spaced axle boxes. The running gear further includes a running gear frame, a primary suspension assembly between each of the axle boxes and the running gear frame, and a secondary suspension stage for supporting a vehicle superstructure on the running gear frame. Each primary suspension assembly has at least a main spring assembly having a vertical stiffness and a horizontal stiffness that is identical in a transverse direction of the running gear frame and in a longitudinal direction of the running gear frame perpendicular to the transverse direction. The primary suspension assembly further has an anisotropic interface assembly in series with the main spring assembly between the running gear frame and the axle box. The anisotropic interface assembly is such that the primary suspension assembly has a transverse stiffness and a longitudinal stiffness wherein the transverse stiffness is substantially different from the longitudinal stiffness.

A spring cup for a primary suspension of a rail vehicle, wherein the spring cup has a longitudinal axis and a spring base for transmitting occurring forces onto a chassis frame of the rail vehicle, and includes a spring seat for receiving at least one spring element, wherein the spring seat is supported against the spring base of the spring cup, where a central section of the spring seat is formed as a contact element having a contact surface for an emergency spring device, and the spring seat is configured such that a force acting on the contact surface is introduced into the spring base outside of the projection surface, resulting from the projection at least of the contact surface along the longitudinal axis onto the spring base in order to achieve a transfer of force from the center of the spring base.

Methods and systems for dynamic weight management

A method for reducing slack in a linkage chain of a vehicle truck assembly is provided. In one example, the method includes responding to a request to de-lift a lift mechanism by reducing pressure in an actuator coupled to the lift mechanism, where the lift mechanism is configured to transfer a load from a first axle to a second axle of the vehicle during the de-lift, and during the de-lift, maintaining the pressure in the actuator at or above a threshold pressure to maintain tension in a weight transfer device of the lift mechanism.

TRACTION ROD ASSEMBLY

A traction rod assembly for a bogie system includes a body extending between first and second ends. A bush assembly is coupled with the first end and includes a first component having a passage, and a second component disposed within the passage of the first component. The bush assembly includes an eccentric offset such that a center of the first component is offset from a center of the second component. A bearing assembly is coupled with the second end of the body and includes cylindrical bearings and spacers that are concentric with a passage disposed at the second end of the body. The bush assembly is coupled with a frame of the bogie system and the bearing assembly is operably with an axle assembly of the bogie system. The bearing assembly allows rotation of the body relative to the axle assembly of the bogie system.
