A load handling system for a vehicle includes a set of forks that concurrently supports two or more pallets including a first pallet and a second pallet linearly positioned along a length of the forks, and a lifting system to raise and lower the forks. A traction system moves the vehicle in a direction of travel associated with withdrawing the forks from the pallets. Additionally, an actuation device generates an activation signal in response to being actuated by an operator, and a vehicle controller places the vehicle in an automated mode of operation in response to receiving the activation signal. In the automated mode of operation, a front end of the forks moves from the second pallet to the first pallet, and the first pallet is raised while the second pallet remains on a transport surface. The first pallet is then spaced apart from the second pallet by a predetermined distance and then lowered to the transport surface.

An industrial truck (1) has a load fork (7) comprising two fork tines (7a, 7b). A load carrier interlocking device (15) is formed by two pivotable cheeks (16a, 16b), each of which is provided with a toothed segment (17a, 17b) on end surfaces facing each other. The toothed segments (17a, 17b) secure the load carrier (L1, L2, L3) positively. The cheeks (16a, 16b) are biased by a spring device (30) toward a pick up position and an interlocking position. When the industrial truck (1) enters a load carrier (L1, L2, L3) with the load fork (7), the cheeks (16a, 16b) are pivoted outwardly away from each other by the load carrier (L1, L2, L3) against the force of the spring device (30). When the load carrier (L1, L2, L3) is completely picked up, the cheeks (16a, 16b) are actuated by the spring device (30) toward the interlocking position, in which the load carrier (L1, L2, L3) is secured positively in position by the toothed segments (17a, 17b).

OBJECT TO BE TRANSPORTED AND AUTOMATIC GUIDED TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

According to one embodiment, an object to be transported by an automatic guided transportation vehicle includes: a housing having an entry route through which the automatic guided transportation vehicle enters; a marker that can be recognized by a sensor provided in the automatic guided transportation vehicle; and a marker holder configured to hold the marker retractably at an initial position where the marker contacts with the automatic guided transportation vehicle in the entry route.

A pallet sled includes a sled base having wheels. A fork tine assembly extends from the sled base and includes a pair of fork tines. At least one of the pair of fork tines is configured to be secured to a base of a hand cart, such as with a slot or recess.
