The vehicle body side structure includes front flange bulging portions and rear flange bulging portions on a center pillar inner panel. Further, a center pillar stiffener has front through holes and rear through holes communicating with a first closed cross section. A center pillar outer panel includes front and rear step passages and that communicate the front and rear through holes with a second closed cross section. The center pillar stiffeners is overlapped with the front bulging portions and the rear flange bulging portions so as to form front gap passages and rear gap passages that communicate the first closed cross section with the outside.

The impact absorbing member (120) includes a web (121) extending along the front-rear direction and flat in a vehicle width direction, a vehicle outer flange (122) joined to a vehicle outer end portion of the web (121) and extending along the front-rear direction, and a vehicle inner flange (123) joined to a vehicle inner end portion of the web (121) and extending along the front-rear direction. The vehicle outer flange (122) and the vehicle inner flange (123) each include a rib (122R, 123R) disposed so as to sandwich the web (121) from above and below and extending along the front-rear direction.

BATTERY CASE STRUCTURE FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE

A battery case structure for an electric vehicle, includes a side member in which a flange of the side member laterally provided in a battery case is deformed or broken from a partition to absorb an impact when a side collision occurs, minimizing the impact which is caused by the collision and is provided to penetrate into a battery. Furthermore, the partition of the side member is designed based on topology optimization to secure rigidity, protecting the battery against the impact.
