Provided herein is a training device configured to allow a user to simulate all of the balancing and turning movements of downhill snow skiing or snowboarding on dry, downhill surfaces. The device is equipped with a braking system that allows the user to slow down the speed of travel when the moving direction changes from forward to sideways, thereby simulating the act of slowing down on a slope by turning a ski or snowboard. The braking effect is further enhanced when the ski or snowboard is tilted towards the uphill direction, further simulating the actual movements of skiing or snowboarding on snow. The braking system may include one or more mechanisms to amplify the force applied to the brake cables. An optional steering bar may be provided with handles that are positioned ahead of the bar to simulate the planting of ski poles prior to or during a turn.

A bicycle rim brake is basically provided with a first brake arm and a hydraulic actuation device. The first brake arm includes a first coupling portion configured to pivot about a first pivot axis, a first actuated portion and a first mounting portion. The first mounting portion is configured to mount a first friction member and extends from the first coupling portion. The hydraulic actuation device is operatively coupled to the first actuated portion of the first brake arm. The hydraulic actuation device includes a cylinder housing defining a hydraulic chamber, a first piston movably disposed in the hydraulic chamber of the cylinder housing, and a first sealing member provided on the cylinder housing so as to at least partially support the first piston in the hydraulic chamber.

A remote bicycle stopping device for remote stopping of a bicycle includes a bicycle brake that is operationally coupled to a bicycle. A GPS-enabled control unit capable of sending and receiving wireless signals is coupled to the bicycle. An effector unit is positioned on and operationally coupled to the bicycle brake. The effector unit is wirelessly coupled to the control unit. The device includes a GPS-enabled transmitting unit that is capable of sending and receiving wireless signals. The transmitting unit sends wirelessly a separation limit defined by the user to the control unit. The separation limit is evaluated as a distance between the GPS coordinates of the transmitting unit and the control unit. Should the separation limit be exceeded, the control unit will send a wireless signal to the effector unit, causing the effector unit to engage the bicycle brake to bring the bicycle to a stop.

Hydraulic rim brake
09663184 · 2017-05-30 · ·

A hydraulically actuated rim brake with a pair of brake arms. Both brake arms may rotate about a common axis, which is the axis of a single bolt that mounts the assembly to the bicycle. The system has one piston slidably disposed in a piston cylinder. The piston's cylinder may be formed in one of the two brake arms. Actuation of the piston in the cylinder causes movement of both brake arms.
