Additive manufactured water resistant closed-cell lattice structure for marine hull cavities
Apparatus and associated methods relate to using an additive (material deposition) process to incrementally form a closed-cell lattice structure formed as a unitary body in the shape of a marine hull cavity, the unit cells of the closed-cell lattice structure are substantially hollow. In an illustrative example, a method may include (a) forming a closed-cell lattice structure through additive manufacture, the hull cavity material may be bonded to an upper manufactured liner and a lower manufactured liner through lamination or mechanical connection. Unit cells of the closed-cell lattice structure may include hollow voids filled with gases. Providing the additive manufactured closed-cell lattice structure with a unitary body and hollow voids to trap gases may further advantageously promote the buoyancy and reduce the degeneration of a marine hull.
FLOATABLE OFFSHORE WIND TURBINE
The application relates to a floatable offshore wind turbine with at least one floatable foundation. The floatable foundation includes at least one floating body. The floatable offshore wind turbine includes at least one anchoring arrangement configured to fix the offshore wind turbine to an underwater ground while the offshore wind turbine is in its anchoring state. Further, the floatable offshore wind turbine includes at least one height adjustment device configured to change the vertical distance of the floatable foundation to an underwater ground surface of the underwater ground and/or to a water surface during the anchoring state based on at least one specific meteorological environmental parameter of the offshore wind turbine.
METHOD AND SYSTEMS FOR IMPROVING DAMAGE STABILITY OF A SHIP
A foamable composition for injecting in a region of a ship, for example to prevent and/or reduce water ingress and/or progressive flooding in the ship so as to improve damage stability of the ship, is foamable to form a foam and is dissolvable in a removal composition. The provision of a foam, which can be dissolved by application of a removal composition, e.g., a solvent, may improve ease of removal of the foam, and therefore may reduce the cost and/or speed of reinstatement of the ship. The present invention also relates to a method of improving damage stability of a ship, the method comprising identifying one or more regions of the ship where injection of a material may lead to increase in ship stability, the material being impermeable to water and/or being capable of preventing migration of water.
Water vessel flotation system
A water vessel flotation system is disclosed comprising a plurality of inflatable bladders disposed within a vessel. In the event of capsizing or hull rupture, the bladders can be automatically inflated with compressed gas. Inflation of the bladders can be performed by one or more omni directional float triggered valves coupled between the compressed gas tanks and the bladders. Each valve is operated by a lever having a flexible link (e.g. a chain) attached to its end. The flexible link extends somewhat perpendicularly away from the lever end to pass through an eyelet at distal point. A float is attached to the flexible link after exiting the eyelet allowing the buoyant action of the float in any direction to cause the flexible link to be pulled toward the eyelet and thereby pulling the lever end and opening the valve.
