SYSTEM FOR PERFORMING FLUSHING THROUGH COOLING WATER PATHWAY IN MARINE PROPULSION DEVICE
20230003164 · 2023-01-05 ·

A system for flushing a cooling water pathway in a marine propulsion device includes a water control device, an electric power control device, a data communication module, and a controller. The controller controls the water control device to supply the water from a water source to the cooling water pathway to flush the cooling water pathway. The controller controls the electric power control device to supply electric power to the marine propulsion device during the flushing. The controller determines whether to end the flushing or not. When it is determined to end the flushing, the controller controls the electric power control device to stop the supply of electric power to the marine propulsion device, and controls the data communication module to notify the end of the flushing to a terminal of a user of the marine propulsion device.

A system for flushing a cooling water pathway of a marine propulsion device with water supplied from a water source includes a water control device and a controller. The water control device is connected to the water source and the cooling water pathway of the marine propulsion device. The controller controls and causes the water control device to supply the water from the water source to the cooling water pathway so as to perform the flushing. The controller obtains propulsion device data including at least one of a pressure of the water, a flow rate of the water and a concentration of salt contained in the water in the cooling water pathway. The controller determines whether or not to stop a supply of the water by the water control device based on the propulsion device data.

Marine Propulsion Unit

A marine propulsion unit is described. The marine propulsion unit allows for shallow, obstructed, or otherwise impeded operation of a vessel through a novel marine propulsion transfer unit that is, or can be, mechanically coupled to an outboard motor or other similar marine motor. A mount for raising and lowering the marine propulsion unit in a generally vertical direction allows for adjustment of operating depth of the marine propulsion unit to accommodate a wide range of operating conditions from shallow and obstructed water to traditional deep water operation.

OUTBOARD MOTOR

An outboard motor includes an engine, an upper case, a lower case, a cavitation plate, a transmission, a cooling water passage, a first pump, and a second pump. The transmission includes a drive shaft and a propeller shaft. The cooling water passage is connected to the engine and located in the upper case and the lower case. The first pump is above the cavitation plate. The first pump is connected to the drive shaft and operable to send cooling water to the engine through the cooling water passage. The second pump is drivable by the driving force from the transmission to send the cooling water to the engine through the cooling water passage.

Marine cooling system, marine propulsion device, and marine vessel

A marine cooling system performs a temperature adjustment of an object to be cooled such as an internal combustion engine of a marine vessel. The marine cooling system includes a water supply flow passage to supply cooling water to the object, a water drain flow passage to drain the cooling water from the object to reduce an amount of the cooling water that contacts the object, and a flow passage controller to shut off the water to the drain flow passage.

An outboard motor includes: an upper case supported on a hull; a lower case pivotably supported on the upper case; a first drive source disposed within the upper case; a planetary gear mechanism connected to the first drive source via an upper drive shaft; a propeller shaft connected to the planetary gear mechanism via a lower drive shaft; and a second drive source that provides the lower case with a torque. The planetary gear mechanism includes a sun gear, a planetary carrier supporting planetary gears and connected to an upper end of the lower drive shaft, and an internal gear. One of the sun gear and the internal gear is connected to the lower end of the upper drive shaft, and the other is connected to the lower case to provide the lower case with a torque in a direction opposite to a rotation direction of the lower drive shaft.
