A steering system for a marine vessel, the steering system comprises a first steering apparatus having a first steering actuator for steering the first steering apparatus and a second steering apparatus having a second steering actuator for steering the second steering apparatus. There is a mechanical steering linkage operatively connecting the first steering apparatus to the second steering apparatus so the steering apparatuses are steered synchronously. A user input device provides user inputted steering commands. A control apparatus operatively connects to the actuators and to the user input device. The control apparatus controls the steering of the steering apparatuses so both of the steering apparatuses are simultaneously steered the same amount.

A hydraulic steering system for vehicles includes a steering control member; a hydraulic pump provided with a rotatable driving shaft on which the control member is fitted; a hydraulic actuating cylinder connected with two ports of the pump alternately operating as delivery side and return side of the pump and mechanically connected with a direction changing member, which determines a change in the direction by modifying orientation via an actuating cylinder as a function of the supply of hydraulic fluid to the cylinder from the pump by the steering control member. The driving shaft is dynamically connected with an electric motor/transmission assembly, which is activated alternatively by generating a rotational force auxiliary to the movement manually exerted on the steering control member or opposing the manually exerted movement, or by driving to rotate the driving shaft of the pump in place of the manual action driving the steering control member.

A steering assembly for a hydraulic steering system is disclosed. The steering assembly includes a steering input device and an auxiliary drive assembly. The auxiliary drive assembly includes a lock valve body with one or more fluid passages that facilitates regulation of a fluid flow in response to an input from the steering input device. The lock valve body has a surface and a guide bore. Further, an electric pump is included that has an electric motor with a drive train unit. The electric pump is adapted to be mounted to the surface and the drive train unit is adapted to be positioned through the guide bore and operably coupled to the one or more fluid passages to regulate the fluid flow in the one or more fluid passages.

COLLISION-AVOIDANCE MANEUVERING METHOD IN CONGESTED WATER AND COLLISION-AVOIDANCE MANEUVERING SYSTEM FOR SINGLE-PROPELLER TWIN-RUDDER SHIP

In collision-avoidance maneuvering in congested waters, an own ship is decelerated by astern power. The own ship is continuously navigated on a current target course with a propulsion propeller always rotated forward at the stern of the own ship. The astern power is generated as the propulsion of a propeller slipstream with rudder angles formed at a pair of right and left high-lift rudders disposed behind the propulsion propeller. In the decelerating maneuvering, the rudder angles formed at the high-lift rudders are controlled within a range from a rudder angle for applying a maximum propeller slipstream as the astern power to a rudder angle for eliminating the ahead power of the propeller slipstream, and the deceleration of the own ship is controlled by changing the astern power according to the rudder angles.
