DEVICES AND METHODS FOR EXTENDING AIRCRAFT CARGO BAYS WITH REPLACEMENT TAILCONES
Systems and methods for extending the interior cargo bay of fixed-wing cargo aircraft into a replaceable tailcone bay are disclosed. The system includes an aircraft and a removable tailcone configured couple to the aft end of the fuselage. The aircraft fuselage includes a cargo bay and an aft end opening into the cargo bay. The tailcone, when attached, encloses the aft end opening the cargo bay. The tailcone can include an interior volume configured to extend the fuselage cargo bay such that the interior volume defines an aft end of a cargo bay of the cargo aircraft. In some examples, the tailcone includes a plurality of segments, which can be configured to extend from the aft end of the aircraft to adjust a length of the cargo extension provided by the tailcone.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING AN AFT FUSELAGE SECTION OF AN AIRCRAFT
A system and method for forming an aft fuselage section of an aircraft include a forward section having a stabilizer channel. The forward section includes an upper sill beam and a lower sill beam. One or more pivot fittings are securely fastened between the upper sill beam and the lower sill beam. The one or more pivot fittings are configured to pivotally couple to a horizontal stabilizer within the stabilizer channel.

REAR END SECTION FOR AN AIRCRAFT
A rear end section for an aircraft, having a fuselage, a v-tail, and a thruster assembly including at least one propulsion device installed to ingest and consume air forming a fuselage boundary layer, a control surface attached at the rearmost section of the rear end, and a casing covering at least part of the propulsion device such that an air inlet and an air outlet are defined between the casing and the propulsion device. The air inlet is configured to permit passage of the fuselage boundary layer towards the propulsion device. The air outlet is configured to direct the airflow exhausted from the propulsion device into the control surface, to divert the airflow and provide vectoring thrust for the aircraft.

A method for manufacturing an aircraft rear section including a tail cone and a vertical tail plane, the method includes: providing pre-cured frames (1) each of which includes a section of the tail cone (2) and a section of the vertical tail plane (3); providing pre-cured stringers (4); placing the pre-cured stringers (4) each in respective positions within the pre-cured frames (1); placing a skin (5) around an external surface of the pre-cured frames (1); and curing the pre-cured frames (1), the pre-cured stringers (4), and the skin (5), forming the final aircraft rear section.
