FLIGHT DECK BARRIER APPARATUS
The present disclosure is directed to a flight deck barrier apparatus or device including a frame having a first jamb, a second jamb, and a header. A foldable barrier mechanically coupled to the second jamb. An edge beam mechanically coupled to the foldable barrier. The edge beam configured to mechanically cooperate with strikers along the first jamb and mechanically cooperate with strikers along the second jamb. The edge beam including a plurality of catches. Respective ones of the plurality of catches interlock with corresponding ones of the strikers along the first jamb when the foldable barrier is in a stowed position such that a flight deck of an aircraft is accessible. Respective ones of the plurality of catches interlock with corresponding ones of the strikers along the second jamb when the foldable barrier is in an expanded position limiting access to the flight deck barrier of the aircraft.
Separating element for a platform cabin, platform comprising such an element and method for using such an element
A separating element for a platform cabin comprises at least one leaf subjected to a return force toward its open position, and, for the or each leaf, a return member for returning the leaf toward its closed position and comprising a first end articulated at an articulation point movable jointly with the leaf. This return member also comprises a second end mounted movably relative to the partition between an active position and an inactive position, such that when the leaf is open and the second end is in the active position, the return member exerts, on the leaf, a return force returning the leaf toward its closed position, and when the leaf is open and the second end is in the inactive position, the return member is in a second configuration in which it does not exert a force returning the leaf toward its closed position.
Pyrotechnic latch actuator responsive to a decompression detection system and method
A system for monitoring a pressure change within at least one compartment of an aircraft and operating a pyrotechnic device associated with a door latch, includes a securing mechanism arranged in an aircraft door that includes a pyrotechnic actuator and a latch bolt. The system includes the pyrotechnic actuator configured to move the latch bolt when the pyrotechnic actuator is actuated. The system also includes a pressure sensor configured to provide a pressure signal. The system also includes a controller configured to determine a pressure drop representing a decompression event. The system also includes an output driver configured to generate an output signal to actuate the pyrotechnic actuator when the controller determines the occurrence of a decompression event.
Lightweight structure removable energy-absorbing barrier and aircraft including at least one such removable barrier
A removable barrier and an aircraft including such a removable barrier. The barrier including a panel configured to block at least partly an opening delimited by a frame, a plurality of straps each connected to the panel and each having first and second ends, for each strap, a first connection configured to connect the first end of the strap and a first edge of the frame at least temporarily, a second connection configured to connect the second end of the strap and a second edge of the frame at least temporarily, at least one folded overlength at the level of at least one of the first and second ends of the strap, at least one breakable connection keeping the overlength folded.
Cockpit access security system
A cockpit access security system controls changes to a record of personnel authorized to access the cockpit by reference to the state of the aircraft as determined by a plurality of on-board sensors indicating the state of particular aircraft subsystems.
DEVICE FOR PREVENTING ACCESS TO AN AREA OF AN AIRCRAFT
A device for preventing access to an area of an aircraft includes a first vertical frame post designed for attachment to a structure of the aircraft, a second vertical frame post designed for attachment to a structure of the aircraft, a barrier element displaceably connected to the first frame post and including a latching element for detachable connection of the barrier element to the second frame post, and a delay unit including a spring-loaded damping cylinder displaceable into a damping position by a locking movement in opposition to a spring force. The delay unit is designed to release the latching element after a time delay.
Aircraft door latch assembly
The present disclosure provides a door latch assembly including (a) a locking pin movable from an extended position where the locking pin is positioned in an aperture of a driver, to a retracted position where the locking pin is configured to be removed from the aperture of the driver, (b) a solenoid including a solenoid plunger having a first end coupled to the locking pin and a second end coupled to a shaft, (c) a lever arm having a first end engaging the shaft, and (d) a switch including an actuator button in contact with the lever arm, wherein when the solenoid is actuated the solenoid plunger moves to retract the locking pin from the aperture and causes the shaft to displace the lever arm and the actuator button to activate the switch.
MECHANICAL TIME DELAY SECURITY LATCHES AND METHODS
A time-delay latch for securing a structure in a specified position includes a housing, a fluid chamber contained within the housing for holding fluid, a pin that extends through the fluid chamber and is axially movable within and through the fluid chamber, and a release frame movably secured within the housing. When the pin is in a latched position, the release frame engages with the pin to prevent axial movement of the pin. When the pin is in an unlatched position, the release frame disengages from the pin to allow axial movement of the pin. The axial movement of the pin between the latched position and the unlatched position requires a prescribed duration of time to elapse. During operation, the axial movement of the pin between the unlatched position and the latched position can occur faster than the prescribed duration of time.
QUICK-RELEASE HINGE DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A rapidly disassembled hinge suitable for use in an aircraft includes a first attachment plate attached to a supported structure, a second attachment plate attached to a supporting structure, and a pin with a notch in an outer surface thereof, which is insertable into portions of the first and second attachment plates for pivotably connecting the first and second attachment plates together. The pin is inserted so that the notch is positioned within the second attachment structure when the hinge is in an assembled state. A key includes a main body and a distal end extending from the main body, the distal end being insertable within the notch of the pin. The key is movable such that the distal end of the key can be inserted into and removed from engagement with the notch of the pin to provide for toolless disassembly of the hinge.
Automated Cabin-Divider Door
A system for an automated cabin-divider door for an aircraft includes a door, a motor for moving the door to an open position, a limit switch configured to detect when the door is in a fully open position and to stop the motor, and electronics coupling the motor and the limit switch to an avionics system. The avionics system determines when the door is to be opened and provides a signal to the motor for moving the door to the fully open position. A method for automatically opening the cabin-divider door includes determining whether the aircraft is on the ground or in flight, determining whether the aircraft is taxiing, and determining whether the aircraft is in a final phase of approach. When the aircraft is taxiing or in the final phase of approach, the method includes sending a command signal to the motor for opening the cabin-divider door.
