Apparatus and method for forming and applying edge protectors
A device forms and applies an edge protector to a corner of a load as strap is positioned and tensioned around the load, to position the edge protector between the strap and the load. The device includes a shuttle movable between a home position away from the load and an application position near the load. The shuttle includes a breaker assembly having a fixed portion and a movable portion. The movable portion is movable between a position in which it is generally planar with the fixed portion and another position in which it is transverse to the fixed portion. The breaker assembly includes a shoe that defines a receiving region between the shoe and the fixed and movable portions. The shuttle includes a load contact portion. Movement of the shuttle from the home position moves the movable portion from the first to the second position to fold the edge protector. Further movement of the shuttle and contact of the load contact portion with the load discharges the edge protector for receipt on the load as the strap is positioned and tensioned around the load.
PACKAGING CONTAINERS AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND PACKAGING METHODS
Provided is a packaging container including a plurality of sidewall panels. The plurality of sidewall panels may include at least a first sidewall panel and a second sidewall panel connected to the first sidewall panel along a predefined corner fold line. A tear-away piece may be located on at least one sidewall panel of the plurality of sidewall panels. The packaging container may include a top wall defined by a plurality of top panels. An assembly for the production of conical paper sleeves for floral groupings comprises a system configured to continuously feed sheets of paper stock along an elongated surface of a folding table, wherein a first fold and a second fold are applied to a single sheet of paper stock with an amount of adhesive disposed there between using an assembly of belts, rollers, electrical motors, sensors, and fold guides, all of which may be electronically monitored and controlled by a processor disposed in connection with an operator console. Alternatively, the production of conical paper sleeves may instead comprise a semi-automated assembly configured to allow for the movement of an adhesive applicator along a predetermined route while an operator thereof manually applies a first fold and second fold to a single sheet of paper stock. Such predetermined route may be fully configurable and customizable by an operator of such semi-automated assembly.

A handling device includes an opening/buffering/positioning station that is equipped with an elongate core element for sleeve material to be pulled over an upstream end while automatically opening up the sleeve shape, and a holding construction that is configured to keep the core element in place while the sleeve material is pulled over and guided along it. An operable cutter is provided at a downstream end for each time cutting of a length of the sleeve material while leaving behind a new leading sleeve end portion at the downstream end. A gripping assembly is configured movable back and forth between the downstream end and a sleeve handling station for each time gripping the new leading sleeve end portion and then pulling the length of the sleeve material from the core element towards the sleeve handling station.

A robotic device for sleeving potted plants. The robotic device includes a vertical shaft, at least two upper arms arranged on the vertical shaft, each one of the at least two upper arms having a gripping unit for gripping and releasing potted plants, a first picking area located at a first position radially outwards from the vertical shaft, a sleeving area located at a second position radially outwards from the vertical shaft, and a sleeving unit arranged at the sleeving area. The at least two upper arms are rotatable between the first and the second position about the vertical shaft, wherein the at least two upper arms are arranged to be movable along the vertical shaft.
