Systems and Methods for Reducing Friction for a Peel Plate
A peel plate with a rotating rod is provided. The peel plate with the rotating rod may be used in a label dispensing system in place of a standard peel plate having a narrow-edged portion. The peel plate with the rotating rod reduces the friction over a liner (e.g., having labels disposed on both sides) during label dispensing of a first side, which would thereby reduce or eliminate the curling effect of the liner for subsequent (second side) label dispensing.
Mechanism for label size selection
A mechanism used to select a label size to be applied to a cable in a label applicator. The mechanism includes an index plate, an index arm, and a wedge carrier. The index arm is pivotably mounted to the index plate and the wedge carrier is mounted to the index plate. The wedge carrier has guide rollers that dictate a label path. The index arm moves the index plate which linearly moves the wedge carrier thereby adjusting the label path in the label applicator.
LABEL PEELER SYSTEM FOR PRINTERS AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING SAME
A label peeler system includes a first outer bracket having a first angled surface and a second outer bracket having a second angled surface. The label peeler system comprises a first movable bracket pivotably coupled to the first outer bracket and a second movable bracket pivotably coupled to the second outer bracket. A peel bar is secured to the first angled surface and the second angled surface, and a peel roller is rotatably disposed above the peel bar. A first roller is rotatably coupled to the first outer bracket and the second outer bracket. A second roller is rotatably coupled to the first movable bracket and the second movable bracket. The first roller and the second roller are configured to collectively pull the liner away from the label after the label is peeled by the peel bar.
Apparatus and Method for Testing Liner and Label Separation
An apparatus for testing label-liner separation is provided. The apparatus comprises a roller, a plurality of replaceable printer peel bars, and a weight. Each peel bar associated with its own unique radius for its disengage edge. A label-liner web is fed under the roller and up to a given peel bar of a given radius over the corresponding disengage edge. A string is attached on one end to a liner portion of the web and the weight is attached to the other end of the string with the weight freely hanging unsupported under the liner portion. A label portion of the web is pulled over the disengage edge to determine whether the label portion separates from the liner portion of the web during the pulling. If no separation occurs a different peel bar with a different radius is selected and tried. This repeats until separation is achieved.
PRINTING APPARATUS
A printing apparatus includes a printing part configured to perform printing on a recording medium in which a label is attached to a backing sheet, transport rollers configured to sandwich and transport the recording medium, a peeling member configured to peel off the label from the backing sheet by bending the recording medium, and a tensioner configured to apply a tension in a direction opposite to a transport direction of the recording medium transported by the transport rollers to the recording medium, wherein, in the transport direction, the transport rollers are positioned downstream of the peeling member, and the tensioner is positioned upstream of the peeling member.
Label printer
A label printer includes a print head configured to perform printing on a label sheet, a transporting roller configured to transport the label sheet downstream, a peeling roller configured to transport a backing sheet in a direction different from a travelling direction of a label to peel the label from the backing sheet, and a control unit configured to control rotation of the transporting roller and rotation of the peeling roller, wherein when controlling a current value supplied to a peeling motor configured to rotate the peeling roller, the control unit supplies, to the peeling motor, a current value that is greater in an acceleration period for accelerating the rotation of the peeling roller than in any of a constant-speed period for rotating the peeling roller at a constant-speed and a deceleration period for decelerating the rotation of the peeling roller.
Label printer
A label printer includes a print head configured to perform printing on a label sheet, a transporting roller configured to transport the label sheet downstream, a peeling roller configured to transport a backing sheet in a direction different from a travelling direction of a label to peel the label from the backing sheet, and a control unit configured to control rotation of the transporting roller and rotation of the peeling roller, wherein a maximum friction force between the transporting roller and the label sheet are set such that the maximum friction force between the peeling roller and the backing sheet is not greater than a transport force of the peeling roller so as to make a transport error of the label sheet by the transporting roller within an acceptable value.
Label application with release liner disposal
A printer prints label data on a self-adhesive label that has a tabbed backing to produce a printed label on the tabbed backing. Also, a label feeder is positioned relative to the printer to transport the printed label on the tabbed backing away from the printer. A label applicator is positioned, relative to the feeder, to remove the printed label on the tabbed backing from the feeder. The tabbed backing includes a first section, covering an adhesive area of the printed label, and a tab extending from the first section. The label applicator includes a holder, that is shaped to grasp the tab of the tabbed backing, and a moveable element that is configured to remove the printed label from the tabbed backing and affix the adhesive area of the printed label to an item.
