The carton comprises plurality of panels including a side panel and a heel panel hingedly connected to the side panel by a fold line. The carton comprises a plurality of bottom-receiving openings including first and second openings. Each of the first and second openings is formed in part in the side panel and in part in a heel panel. The first opening has a first maximum width measured along a notional line parallel to the fold line. The second opening has a second maximum width measured along a notional extension of the fold line. The second maximum width is greater than the first maximum width.

An aspect of the invention provides a corner folding arrangement comprising a first panel (18) having a corner defined by an end edge and a side edge. An aspect of the invention provides an article-retaining device for receiving and engaging a portion of an article. The article-retaining device comprises an opening and a deformable member. The opening is defined at least in part in the second panel and the deformable member is formed from at least part of the second panel. The deformable member extends continuously across the opening such that the deformable member is connected at its opposite side edges to the second panel by first and second joints respectively. The deformable member is further connected at an adjacent end edge to the second panel by a third joint.

An aspect of the invention provides an article carrier comprising a plurality of primary panels (812,814,816) at least partially extending around an interior of the article carrier. The auxetic cut pattern provides a tear opening device The auxetic cut pattern provides a stretchable panel conformable with a contoured surface of an article.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a panel interlocking device, a carton, and a blank for forming the carton. The carton blank incorporating a panel interlocking device for securing together a first and a second panel in overlapping relationship. The panel interlocking device comprises a locking tab struck from the first panel, and a retaining tab defining a locking aperture struck from the second panel. In use the retaining tab is displaced out of the plane of the second panel to receive said locking tab through the locking aperture to be engaged therewith. The retaining tab has opposing side edges each concavely curved as viewed from the outside of the retaining tab.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a carton for packaging one or more articles, a blank for forming the carton and a method of packaging articles. The carton comprises a plurality of panels forming walls of a tubular structure including a top wall, a first side wall, a base wall, and a second side wall. An end closure structure at least partially closes an end of the tubular structure. The end closure structure includes: a top end closure flap having a handle opening forming a carrying handle; a side end closure flap coupled to one of the first and second side walls; and a web panel interconnecting the top end closure flap to the side end closure flap.
