The product efficiency of bags each with an end face part is increased. A panel webs is guided to be divided along a line of weakness of the panel web and to be folded along division edges of the panel web. This guiding of the first panel and temporary sealed sections cause a side gusset to be cut open along a line of weakness of the side gusset such that open surfaces are formed. After the forming of the open surfaces, an end face web is supplied to be superposed on folded parts of the panel web and the open surfaces of the side gusset.

Drinks pouch

A fully sealed pouch containing a drink is provided with a straw within the pouch accessible to allow a user to draw drink from the pouch. The pouch defines a top portion, a bottom portion, and respective side edges interconnecting the top portion and the bottom portion. A corner portion is defined between the top portion and one side edge, the corner portion being openable by a user to access the straw. The pouch forms a closed cavity containing the drink, the cavity being defined by the top portion, the bottom portion, and side edges and by at least one wall defining a front face and a rear face for the cavity. The front and rear faces are connected together in the top portion. The front and rear faces are continuous with each other at, or are connected along, the other of the side edges. The front and rear faces are connected, optionally via a gusset, to provide the bottom portion. The one side edge is formed by a first heat seal connecting the front and rear faces; and a second heat seal connects the front and rear faces and extends in an incomplete fashion from the top portion to the bottom portion, being spaced inboard of the first heat seal. The second heat seal divides the interior of the cavity into major and minor portions interconnected so that drink may flow between them, the minor portion lying between the first and second heat seals, and the straw being located within this minor portion. A number of different ways are described in which the corner portion may be opened along a line of weakness formed in the pouch and extending generally parallel to the bottom portion from the first heat seal to and ending at the second heat seal.

Methods of making vented flexible containers

Methods of making vents in containers made from flexible materials, including forming vent openings in a first flexible material, forming vent stand-offs on a second flexible material, and combining the flexible materials to form a vent passage for the flexible container.

An apparatus is configured to make containers from sheet material. The apparatus includes a supply station for supplying a film having at least one folded portion having three or more film flaps folded and superimposed with respect to each other; a welding station configured to receive the film. The welding station comprises a welding head configured for welding the folded portion of the film and forming a container defining a housing compartment; the welding head comprises a heater made of electrically conductive material whose electrical resistivity, at least in a predetermined temperature range, decreases upon the increase of the temperature of the same electrically conductive material.

Bag

To suppress damage such as the formation of holes and wrinkles in laminated bodies constituting a bag. A bag having a storage section includes: laminated bodies that include a sealant film positioned on an inner surface of the bag and at least one plastic film positioned on an outer surface side of the sealant film; and a seal section where inner surfaces of one pair of laminated bodies are joined together. The seal section has an outer edge seal part that is positioned along an outer edge of the bag, and a steam-releasing seal part that is positioned closer to a center point side of the storage section than the outer edge seal part and peels off due to an increase in pressure in the storage section. The steam-releasing seal part peels off when the pressure in the storage section is 130 kPa or lower.

The invention is directed to a polymeric film web, a carrier film, and a magnetic member. The carrier film comprises an inner polyethylene terephthalate layer and an outer plastomer layer. The magnetic member and the carrier film are layered onto the polymeric film web to form a closure member. The outer plastomer layer is adjacent the magnetic member and the carrier film extends beyond an upper edge and/or a lower edge of the magnetic member. The closure is heat sealed such that the seal at the interface of the first carrier film and the second carrier film is a peelable seal, the seal at the interface of the first film web and the first carrier film is a permanent seal, and the seal at the interface of the second film web and the second carrier film is a permanent seal.

A package for containing liquid-exuding product is formed of a single sheet of film that is folded and sealed at certain locations. The package can include an active member, optionally in the form of absorbent, that is heat staked or otherwise attached to a portion of the sheet of film such that the active member is located on an interior surface of a bottom of the folded and sealed package.

MULTILAYER PAPERBOARD POUCH AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME USING CONVENTIONAL BAG-MAKING EQUIPMENT (CBME)
20220402636 · 2022-12-22 · ·

An improved paperboard pouch comprising a multilayer substrate and a method of making the same is provided. The multilayer paperboard pouch comprises an outer surface and an inner surface, wherein one of the surfaces is defined as a food contact surface. In the depicted embodiment, the properties of the polymer layer are chosen to provide adequate mechanical and barrier protection to the paper-based pouch formed on the conventional pouch-forming equipment. A method of manufacturing a multilayer paperboard pouch using conventional bag-making equipment (“CBME”) running at normal production speed for making standard plastic pouches is also provided. First, a paper is extrusion-coated and then the CBME is configured with a feeder for feeding an extrusion-coated paper intermittently for a length along a feeding path; a cutter disposed at a position predetermined for cutting one of the layers of the coated paper and forming a first side gusset, a second side gusset and a bottom gusset portions and for folding each of a first side gusset, a second side gusset and a bottom gusset portions into halves along a center line extending longitudinally thereof; and a sealer for sealing the layers of the polymer with the layers of the bottom gusset portion and the layers of the first and second gusset portions, respectively to form the finished multilayer paperboard pouch ready for sale and distribution to various retailers. It is to be noted that in the depicted embodiment various closure constructions and mechanism can be used for heat sealing the finished pouches.
