Packaging films
A packaging film is described comprising at least one polymer film layer in which particles of a small-pore or a medium-pore palladium-doped zeolite are dispersed. Such films are of particular utility for the adsorption of volatile organic compounds, such as those originating from organic matter.
PACKAGE CONFIGURED TO HOLD PRODUCTS AND HAVING ACTIVE MEMBER ATTACHED TO AN INTERIOR SURFACE THEREOF, AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
A package for containing liquid-exuding product is formed of a single sheet of film that is folded and sealed at certain locations. The package can include an active member, optionally in the form of absorbent, that is heat staked or otherwise attached to a portion of the sheet of film such that the active member is located on an interior surface of a bottom of the folded and sealed package.
Moisture Absorbing Device for Food Packaging
A moisture absorbing device, a method of preparing the device, and a method of reducing moisture inside of a food container with the device are disclosed. The device can include a carrier layer and an absorbent layer. The absorbent layer can include a hydrogel composition and, optionally, an adhesive. The device can further include a ventilation layer. The device can further include an attaching layer having an adhesive material on an exposed surface for attaching the device to the food container. The method of preparing the device can include a roll-to-roll assembly process. The method of reducing moisture inside of a food container with the device can include adding food to a first surface of the food container, attaching a moisture absorbing device to a second surface of the food container, and closing the food container.
Techniques and packages for packaging medical supplies
In some examples, a package includes a package body enclosing a medical supply. The package body defines a window. The package includes a breathable membrane adjacent the package body and extending across the window. The package includes a moisture oxygen scavenger adjacent the package body and extending across the breathable membrane. The package includes an adhesive layer configured to hold the moisture oxygen scavenger adjacent the breathable membrane. In some examples, a technique includes sterilizing a package precursor including the package body and the breathable membrane, and after the sterilizing, adhering the moisture oxygen scavenger to the package body to form the package.
PACKAGE CONFIGURED TO PRESERVE OR INHIBIT PATHOGENS ON PRODUCT, AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING AT LEAST PORTIONS OF SAME
A package (10) configured to preserve or prevent contamination through inhibition of pathogens of product therein includes an active member (26) co-extruded to a carrier (24). The combined active member and carrier can be attached to an interior surface of a package, optionally a lidding film (22) enclosing a cavity formed by a tray of the package.
MOISTURE DEGRADED PACKAGING SEAL
A packaged food product can include: a package and food disposed within the package. The package includes an inflatable first sheet comprising polymer, and a generally flat second sheet comprising paper material and polymer. The first sheet and the second sheet can be melted together to form a peripheral seal that includes paper material from the second sheet suspended within a melt between the first sheet polymer and the second sheet polymer. The food can be disposed on the second sheet and in direct physical contact with the paper material.
PACKAGE CONFIGURED TO HIDE OR OTHERWISE VISUALLY OBSCURE AN ACTIVE MEMBER ATTACHED THERETO
A package configured to hold product includes an active component and a label. The active component can be placed on or attached to an interior surface of the package and the label can be placed on or attached to an exterior surface of the package. The label can be placed on the package to cover the active component so that the active component generally cannot be seen from the external environment.
OXYGEN-ABSORBING FILM
An oxygen-absorbing film including at least, from an outer layer side, a surface substrate layer having an oxygen barrier property, an oxygen-absorbing resin layer, and an inner surface substrate layer that contains a stretched PET substrate and is heat-sealable. The surface substrate layer, the oxygen-absorbing resin layer, and the inner surface substrate layer are laminated in this order. The oxygen-absorbing film provides an oxygen-absorbing film suitable as a packaging material that excels in oxidation suppression of packaging contents and in non-sorption of aroma components and also exhibits excellent tearability.
ACTIVE COMPOUND ATTACHMENT FOR PRESERVING PRODUCT IN A PACKAGE, AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING SAME
A method is described herein for slowing, inhibiting, and/or preventing the growth of microbes, or for killing microbes, within and/or on a product/good that is stored in a package. The method can include applying a film cover over a perforated portion of a package and securing the film cover to the package at the perimeter of the perforated portion with an adhesive or by heat stacking. The film cover can include a material for changing the atmosphere within the package. The package may be an existing pre-perforated package, or may be a package that requires perforation. If the package requires perforation, the method can further include perforating at least a portion of the package prior to positioning the film cover over the perforated portion. The film cover can be formed of a three-phase material or other material.
FOOD CONTAINER FOR PRESERVING FRESHNESS OF FOOD ITEMS
The invention discloses a food container for preserving freshness of food, comprising a container body having a cavity adapted for containing food items; a lid detachably secured on the container body to close the cavity of the container; and one or more food preserving elements capable of absorbing food spoiling gas to preserve freshness of the food items. The one or more food preserving elements are disposed inside the cavity and/or into a material of the food container to preserve the food items for an extended period of time and remove odors.
