The device includes at least one receiving means arranged at least partially between at least two fastening elements, the receiving means having at least one receiving surface for arranging the packages on the receiving surface, at least one first detection means for measuring inflow data indicative of the inflow of packages to the receiving means, and at least one control means for controlling a change of the at least one receiving surface. The at least one control means changes the at least one receiving surface of the at least one receiving means depending on the inflow data measured by the at least one first detection means. Also disclosed is a method for storing packages, in particular parcels, preferably by means of the aforementioned device.
