This device comprises a conveyor belt (25) that is guided over a first roller (12a) and a second roller (12b), said conveyor belt being made of metal and being permeable to air, wherein its upper section forms the transport section (25a) and its lower section forms the return section (25b), and a vacuum generator being located under the upper section of the conveyor belt. A laser (30) for cutting the flat elements is located above the transport section (25a). In order to achieve an improved flatness and an increased durability, the conveyor belt (25) consists of an expanded metal.

Each projection 16 of the plurality of projections 16 is shaped such that a position X of a distal-end part preceding in an opposite direction to a paper feeding direction precedes, in the opposite direction to the paper feeding direction, a position Y of a base-end part preceding in the opposite direction to the paper feeding direction.

The expander roller has a central metal axle mounted in a surrounding synthetic tube with placed on its circumference a grid of implanted brush plugs in an axial direction under an angle alpha and with a mutual distancing and in tangential direction under a center angle beta and with a mutual distance. The roller provides a perfect expanding or stretching of thin widths of different materials.

A rotating element having a plurality of radially extending brush elements is suitably disposed between the driven pick roller and the driven feed roller and rotatable in a second direction opposite the first roller direction to urge the second sheet of paper under the influence of the plurality of radially extending brush elements in a second paper direction opposite the first paper direction.
