Elevator belt surface protection for installation
A belt of an elevator system includes one or more tension elements extending longitudinally along a length of the belt, and an elastomeric jacket at least partially enveloping the one or more tension elements. The jacket defines a traction side configured to be interactive with a traction sheave of the elevator system and a back side opposite the traction side. A protective tape is applied to the elastomeric jacket at the back side. A method of assembling an elevator system includes forming a belt, and installing the belt in a hoistway of the elevator system. One or more additional components of the elevator system are installed in the hoistway. A protective tape is removed from a jacket of the belt after installation of the one or more additional components is completed.

Method for roping an elevator
A method for roping an elevator. At the bottom part of the elevator shaft the hoisting ropes are routed under the pulleys of the elevator car. Then the elevator car and the counterweight are hoisted to the upper part of the shaft where the first ends of the hoisting ropes are routed through the traction sheave and the counterweight pulleys. After that the first rope ends are fixed to the counterweight side rope terminals and the counterweight is lowered to the bottom part of the shaft. During the descent the hoisting ropes are unwound from the reels through the whole roping system with the help of the mass of the counterweight. Finally, the second ends of the hoisting ropes are fixed to the car side rope terminal and tightened to the correct tension.
Elevator system suspension member termination
A suspension member for suspending and/or driving an elevator car of an elevator system includes a plurality of tension members extending along a length of the suspension member including a plurality of fibers extending along the length of the suspension member bonded into a polymer matrix. A jacket substantially retains the plurality of tension members. The suspension member is configured to be deformed at a suspension member end to allow for installation of the suspension member end into a termination assembly of the elevator system. A method of installing a suspension member of an elevator system into a termination assembly includes deforming a suspension member end and reforming it to a selected shape, inserting the suspension member end into the termination assembly and curing and/or hardening it, and applying a load thereto or to the socket or the wedge to secure the suspension member end in the termination assembly.
