Ascension aid for a wind turbine
11577935 · 2023-02-14 · ·

There is provided an ascension aid for a wind turbine comprising a cabin, a catch unit which co-operates with a securing cable as a securing means and a testing unit for testing the functionality of the catch unit. The testing unit has a base plate, a closure counterpart holder, a closing member and an actuating element coupled to the closing member. By actuation of the actuating element the closing member and the closure counterpart holder clamp the securing cable and the closing member and the closure counterpart holder move upwardly along the base plate. Upon release or de-activation of the actuating element the closing member releases the securing cable and the catch unit trips.

Overspeed safety mechanism for lift car

An overspeed safety braking mechanism for lift cars and elevator systems is described herein. The safety mechanism may comprise a safety kit secured to an overhead portion of a lift car, and configured to engage a cable to prevent a downward movement of the lift car. Engagement of the cable may occur when a threshold speed is reached. The overhead portion of the lift car is detachable upon a predetermined upward force resulting from an engagement of the safety cable from the safety kit. A primary brake system may be positioned beneath the safety kit, on or near a lift platform, configured to engage the safety cable in response to an activation of the safety kit and a detection of the threshold speed.

A cable brake includes a pair of brake shoes having braking surfaces facing one another and between which a brake cable is guided. A first brake shoe is movable between a braking position, pressing the cable against the braking surface of the other brake shoe, and a release position, releasing the cable between the brake shoes. A releasable retaining device retains the first brake shoe in the release position, and/or a reset device switches the first brake shoe from the braking position to the release position. Two rotatably mounted pivot arms connected to the first brake shoe are arranged in a parallelogram with one side oriented in parallel with the cable guidance direction. A switchable electromagnet of the retaining device holds the first brake shoe in the release position. The brake shoes, pivot arms, retaining device and reset device are arranged in a housing connected to an elevator car.

A vertical lift system having a safety brake assembly (10) employing a pair of brakes attached to cables running vertically on each side of a guiderail (1). Each brake has a series of wedges (13, 14, and 15), including a braking wedge (14) that presses against the guiderail to brake downward motion of an elevator or lift basket upon an interruption in cable tension. A cable tension adjustment mechanism (3, 4 and 6) to equalize tension in the cables is also incorporated into the safety brake assembly. An electrical sensor (18) is also provided to disrupt power to the lift system upon slackening of a cable.
