The object of the invention is a traction sheave elevator and a rope that contains metal as a load-bearing material, such as the suspension rope of an elevator, which rope comprises at least one or more strands laid from metal wires and which rope is lubricated with a lubricant. Another object is the use of the aforementioned lubricant for lubricating the rope. The lubricant comprises at least oil and thickener, which thickener in the lubricant comprises at least 10% or more of the mass of the lubricant.

A method and an apparatus for monitoring and supervising the lubricant content of elevator ropes in an elevator, which includes at least a hoisting machine provided with a drive motor, the hoisting machine including at least a traction sheave, around which one or more elevator ropes are fitted side-by-side, which ropes move under the effect of friction along with the rotational movement of the traction sheave and at the same time move the elevator car. The lubricant content is monitored and supervised by the aid of a magnetic measuring device disposed in the immediate proximity of the traction sheave and the elevator ropes by collecting in the measuring device the metal dust detaching in connection with wear of the traction sheave and of the elevator ropes during operation of the elevator and by letting the metal dust switch on an alarm about a lubricant content of the elevator ropes that is too low.

Lubricating tubes, systems, and methods

A lubricating tube and a lubrication system are configured to lubricate an apparatus having a rolling component. The lubrication system includes a fluid reservoir containing a fluid, a fluid line coupled to the fluid reservoir; and the lubricating tube, which is disposed between the fluid line and the rolling component. The lubricating tube includes a rigid cylindrical body surrounding a cavity and having an outer circumferential surface. An inlet of the lubricating tube is coupled to the fluid line and provides fluid communication between the fluid line and the cavity. A plurality of ports is disposed on the outer circumferential surface and is configured to dispense the fluid to the rolling component. A location of each port of the plurality of ports from the inlet is customizable.
