System and method for operating a brake lever
A system for operating a brake lever includes a handle and a lock having a first position that prevents pivotal movement of the handle with respect to the lever and a second position that allows pivotal movement of the handle with respect to the lever. A method for operating a brake lever includes locking a handle to the lever to prevent pivotal movement between the handle and the lever and manually positioning the lever to apply and release the brake. The method further includes unlocking the handle from the lever to permit pivotal movement between the handle and the lever and automatically positioning the lever to apply the brake.

IMPACTOR APPARATUS OPERATED FROM ROTORCRAFT
An impactor apparatus for use with a rotorcraft, comprises a reeling apparatus adapted to be transported by the rotorcraft, reeling apparatus including at least a spool, an actuation system for rotating a spool in a winding direction, and a brake system for braking a rotation of the drum. A cable is wound onto the spool. An impactor mass is attached to a free end of the cable. A release of the brake system causes a drop of the impactor mass by gravity, from a loaded condition, the actuating system subsequently rotating the spool to wind the cable onto the spool to put the impactor mass in a loaded condition.

Device for controlling a brake of a winch drum mounted on a drilling rig and method for controlling such a device
A device for controlling a brake of a drum of a draw-works equipping a drilling rig operating a drill tool in a borehole, which device comprises a brake lever having a first end connected mechanically to brake bands designed to act on the drum and a second end provided with a first brake control handle. The device further comprises actuation means configured to be controlled and arranged to act mechanically on the brake lever, and a second brake control handle arranged to servo-control said actuation means.

Braking system for a draw works used for drilling operations
A braking system may include a brake assembly having a brake shaft and a brake lever coupled to the brake shaft. The system may also include a brake cylinder having a first chamber, a second chamber, a piston positioned between the chambers and a piston rod extending outwardly from the piston. The piston rod may be configured to be coupled to the brake shaft such that movement of the piston rod results in rotation of the brake shaft. In addition, the system may include a first valve configured to control a supply of working fluid to the first chamber and a second valve configured to control a supply of the working fluid to the second chamber. By adjusting a position of the first valve and/or the second valve, a braking force applied between the brake assembly and a drum of the draw works may be controlled.
