SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SCREW ON TAMPER EVIDENT CLOSURES
20170320637 · 2017-11-09 ·

A method for securing a tamper evident closure to a container includes providing a prethreaded closure that is defined by a top portion and a skirt portion that extends from the top portion. The skirt portion defines an inner closure thread surface and an opposed outer closure thread surface of at least one closure thread. The skirt portion also includes a tamper evident band. The prethreaded closure is rotated to engage the at least one closure thread with at least one container thread of a container. The inner closure thread surface contacts a surface of the at least one container thread. The tamper evident band of the prethreaded closure is rolled to secure the tamper evident band to the container.

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for sealing bottles with a Roll-on Pilfer Proof (ROPP) closure and a childproof overcap are provided. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to an overcap that can be placed onto or formed onto the ROPP closure. The overcap has a retainer that secures the overcap to the ROPP closure and allows the overcap to move relative to the ROPP closure in a longitudinal axis. The overcap moves between a first position or mode of operation where the overcap can rotate about the ROPP closure and a second position or mode of operation where the overcap engages the ROPP closure to transmit a twisting or torque force to the ROPP closure and open the bottle.

METHODS OF CAPPING METALLIC BOTTLES

Methods of sealing a metallic container are provided. More specifically, the present invention relates to methods that reduce the amount of force applied to a metallic bottle to seal the metallic bottle with a ROPP closure. The methods include use of a capping apparatus that may include more thread rollers than known capping apparatus. Optionally, the thread rollers may use more forming passes to form threads on the ROPP closure. The capping apparatus may also rotate one or more of the ROPP closure and the metallic container in a closing direction before the metallic container is discharged. In one embodiment, the thread rollers form the closure threads before or after a pilfer roller applies a sideload to the ROPP closure.

Threaded metal container

A threaded metal container capable of improving strength (neck portion transverse rigidity) in a direction perpendicular to a container axis at a neck portion composed of a mouth portion and a shoulder portion. The container includes a body portion, a shoulder portion, and a mouth portion. The mouth portion includes a base portion connected to an upper end of the shoulder portion, and a skirt valley portion, a skirt portion, and a threaded portion, which are above the base portion. The base portion 8 includes a protruding portion protruding radially outward and has a diameter gradually increasing downward from the skirt valley portion and a bead portion radially inwardly protruding and smoothly curving downward from the protruding portion. The bead portion circumferentially extends in a linear or dotted pattern. The bead height between the protruding portion and the bead portion in the direction perpendicular to the container axis is 0.1 to 0.6 mm.
