PROCESS FOR CONCENTRATING CO2 FROM AIR AND DILUTE CO2 STREAMS USING MOF BASED PHYSISORBENTS
A method for capturing CO.sub.2 from a gas stream using a metal organic framework (MOF) based physisorbent CO.sub.2 concentrator is provided. In the method, MOF material is pretreated, a gas stream is then introduced into the CO.sub.2 concentrator which comprises the pretreated MOF material. CO.sub.2 from the gas stream is captured with the CO.sub.2 concentrator to generate a CO.sub.2-free stream, which is discharged the from the CO.sub.2 concentrator into the atmosphere. Introduction of the gas stream into the CO.sub.2 concentrator is stopped when the pretreated MOF material becomes saturated with CO.sub.2. The CO.sub.2 concentrator with the saturated MOF material is then regenerated by introducing hot air, hot nitrogen, vacuum, or a combination thereof into the CO.sub.2 concentrator thereby generating a CO.sub.2-rich stream. The CO.sub.2-rich stream is diverted for purification and the regenerated CO.sub.2 concentrator is recycled for future capture of CO.sub.2.

PROCESS FOR CARBON DIOXIDE RECOVERY FROM A GAS STREAM CONTAINING CARBON DIOXIDE AND HYDROCARBONS
The present invention relates to a process for purification of a carbon dioxide feedstock, for example from a production well, which comprises carbon dioxide and gaseous and liquid C.sub.1+ hydrocarbons. Specifically, a carbon dioxide feedstream is passed through one or more separation unit wherein each separation unit removes one or more C.sub.1+ hydrocarbon from the carbon dioxide feedstream to provide a richer carbon dioxide gas stream. The process comprises one or more separation unit which employs an adsorption media and has an adsorption step and a media regeneration step wherein the regeneration step may be operated as a batch process, a semi-continuous process, or a continuous process. One embodiment of this method provides for the use of a different regenerable adsorbent media in two or more separation units.

In embodiments, a method may include producing, via an amine absorption column supplied with a raw gas stream that includes fractions of hydrogen sulfide (H.sub.2S), carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2), and carbon monoxide (CO), (1) a sweet gas stream that includes the fractions of the CO and (2) an amine-rich aqueous solution that includes the H.sub.2S and CO.sub.2. The method may include heating the amine-rich aqueous solution to produce a heated amine-rich aqueous solution. The method may include producing, via an amine regenerator supplied with the heated amine-rich aqueous solution (1) an acid gas stream that includes the H.sub.2S and CO.sub.2 and (2) an amine-lean aqueous solution. The method may include producing, via adsorption in a metal oxide adsorbent vessel, an effluent stream that includes the CO.sub.2.
Displacement purge adsorption process for separating CO2 from another gas
The present invention concerns a process for the separation of a gas mixture containing CO.sub.2 and at least one inert gaseous species, comprising (a) feeding the gas mixture into an adsorption column via a first inlet located at a first side of the column, wherein the adsorption column contains a solid CO.sub.2 sorbent loaded with H.sub.2O molecules and thereby desorbing H.sub.2O molecules and adsorbing CO.sub.2 molecules, to obtain a sorbent loaded with CO.sub.2 and an inert product stream; and then (b) feeding a stripping gas comprising H.sub.2O into the adsorption column via a second inlet located at a second side which is opposite to the first inlet, thereby stripping the sorbent and desorbing CO.sub.2 molecules and adsorbing H.sub.2O molecules, to obtain a sorbent loaded with H.sub.2O and the CO.sub.2 product stream, wherein the adsorption column is re-used in step (a) after being stripped in step (b). The invention also concerns an apparatus for performing the process according to the invention.
