SYNTHESIS OF FINNED ZEOLITE CRYSTALS

A secondary growth procedure described herein is used to prepare finned zeolites. The finned zeolites possess properties that are distinctly unique compared to crystals of similar size lacking fins. The procedure is amenable to a wide range of zeolite crystal structures.

SMALL CRYSTAL, HIGH SURFACE AREA EMM-30 ZEOLITES, THEIR SYNTHESIS AND USE

A process is disclosed for producing small crystal, high surface area crystalline materials having the MFI and/or MEL framework-type, designated as EMM-30, using as a structure directing agent tetrabutylammonium cations and/or tetrabutylphosphonium cations, or 1,5-bis(N-tributylammonium)pentane dications, and/or 1,6-bis(N-tributylammonium)hexane dications. The compositions made according to that process, as well as the various dication compositions themselves, are also disclosed.

Zeolite with encapsulated platinum

A method of making a zeolite with encapsulated platinum is provided. The method includes dissolving an aluminum source in water to form a first solution, dissolving a hydroxide in water to form a second solution, dissolving a templating agent in water to form a third solution, and adding a silica source to the first solution to form a fourth solution. The method further includes adding the second solution to the fourth solution to form a fifth solution, adding the third solution to the fifth solution to form a sixth solution, and adding a platinum source to the sixth solution. The sixth solution is crystallized to form a solid product, which is recovered. The solid product is calcined. An ammonium ion exchange is performed on the solid product to form a second solid product, and the second solid product is calcined.

Catalysts and Processes for Converting Aromatics

Methods and corresponding catalysts are provided for conversion of an aromatics feed containing C.sub.8+ aromatics, particularly C.sub.9+ aromatics, to form a converted product mixture comprising, e.g., benzene and/or xylenes. The aromatic feed can be converted in the presence of a catalyst that includes a mixture of a first zeolite having an MEL framework, such as ZSM-11, and a second zeolite having a MOR framework, such as mordenite, particularly a mordenite synthesized using TEA or MTEA as a structure directing agent. The weight ratio of the first zeolite to the second zeolite in the catalyst can be from 0.3 to 1.2, or from 0.3 to 1.1, or from 0.3 to 1.0. The catalyst can further include one or more metals supported on the catalyst, such as a combination of metals.

Methods for modifying a ZSM-5 zeolite by contacting the zeolite with an alkaline solution prior to combining with a binder material to produce a modified ZSM-5 catalyst extrudate that has substantially longer catalyst life, relative to an untreated ZSM-5 catalyst, for converting light olefins to products that may be used as a liquid transportation fuel blend stock. The alkaline solution is optionally sodium hydroxide. The binder is optionally alumina, bentonite or silica.

An ammonium ion exchange is performed on the solid product to form a second solid product, and the second solid product is calcined

CATALYST INCLUDING MOLECULAR SIEVE HAVING TOPOLOGICAL PORE STRUCTURE, PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR AND USE THEREOF

A catalyst contains a metal oxide, and a molecular sieve, in a crystal form, having a topological pore structure. The metal oxide is centrally distributed on the surface of the molecular sieve. Grains of the molecular sieve are exposed to at least three families of crystal planes. The family of crystal plane with the largest pore size in topology is occupied by the metal oxide by no more than 30%, preferably no more than 20%, or no more than 10%.

Process for production of high silica content zeolite from fly ash

The present invention provides for a process for the production of an aluminosilicate zeolite from fly ash, and in particular but not exclusively, to a process for producing a high silica content zeolite from fly ash without the addition of an external silica source, such as sodium silicate.

Zeolite production method

Disclosed is a method for readily and inexpensively producing zeolite without using an organic structure-directing agent (organic SDA). Specifically disclosed is a method whereby a gel containing a silica source, an alumina source, an alkaline source and water is reacted with zeolite seed crystals, to produce a zeolite with the same kind of skeletal structure as the zeolite. The gel used is a gel of a composition whereby, when a zeolite is synthesized from this gel only, the synthesized zeolite comprises at least one of the kinds of composite building units of the target zeolite.
