CRUDE OIL DEMULSIFIER COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF
20220364000 · 2022-11-17 · ·

The present disclosure relates to demulsifier compositions and methods of resolving emulsions using the compositions. The demulsifiers include modified hydroxy-succinimide copolymers. For example, the demulsifiers may include ethoxylated or propoxylated hydroxy-succinimide copolymers. The demulsifier compositions are useful for resolving oil-in-water, water-in-oil, and complex emulsions of water and oil.

Ionic liquids formulation as an environmentally friendly oil dispersant

Disclosed herein is an oil dispersant composition that contains an acyl amino acid ionic liquid, a dicationic ionic liquid, a fruit acid ionic liquid, a polyacid ionic liquid, and an ethoxylate oleyl ether ionic liquid. The composition may also be diluted with water. The composition is useful for dispersing an oil spill in a body of water, while being less toxic to the aquatic environment and also acting to stimulate bacterial growth in said aquatic environment.

Process for separating a hydrophibic material from a mixture of hydrophobic and hydrophilic material

A process is provided for separating hydrophobic material from a mixture of hydrophobic and hydrophilic material using peptide-based amphiphilic organogelators.

COMPOSITIONS AND RELATED KITS AND METHODS FOR WATER TREATMENT

Compositions for water treatment are provided. In some embodiments, the composition comprises: a cationic polyacrylamide-type polymer having a charge density of about 10% to about 40% and a molecular weight of about 600×10.sup.4 g/gmol to about 900×10.sup.4 g/gmol; and a cationic surfactant, the surfactant comprising an alkyl quaternary ammonium salt. Also provided are related methods and kits for treating wastewater with dispersed and dissolved organic matters and oils. Embodiments of the compositions, methods, and kits can be used to treat oil-in-water emulsions, produced water, and process water containing dispersed and/or dissolved organic matter such as hydrocarbons from various process industries including Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) oil operations.

Method and system for using subsea dispersants

Method and system is described to enhance operations for managing the hydrocarbon release. The method and system for managing a hydrocarbon release includes one or more vessels configured to collect mineral fines, to transfer the mineral fines to a hydrocarbon, and inject the mineral fines into the hydrocarbons at or near the hydrocarbon release location. The method may include subsea dredging or sediment collection in the vicinity of the mineral fines injection. This approach may be utilized to provide a continuous supply of material without interruption to injection operations.

Methods of using ionic liquids as corrosion inhibitors

Ionic liquid containing compositions may be used in the production, recovery and refining of oil and gas. In addition, they may be used to treat cooling water and/or to inhibit and/or prevent corrosion of metals.

Retraction of oil slicks using surfactants

A method for retracting oil on a water surface, and a method for reducing the quantity of oil on an oil control boom are described. Spreading of oil can be reversed by reducing the surface tension of the seawater, for example by using a low concentration of a water-soluble surfactant, such as a non-ionic surfactant. A controlled amount of the surfactant may be continuously discharged at the inner-wall of a spill control boom surrounding the oil spill. The spilled oil is caused to retract away from the boom toward the center of the area encircled thereby, such that the oil layer becomes sufficiently thick to be more effectively removed mechanically. The surfactant also reduces the amount of oil on the spill control boom, whereby the boom can easily be removed from a remediated oil spill and reused at a later date without further cleaning.

Process for decontamination of hazardous sulfur compounds in oilfield produced waters

A system and method treat oilfield produced water by two-stages of hazardous sulfide treatments. In an embodiment, a two-stage oil and gas field produced water treatment system includes an oil removal vessel. The oilfield produced water is introduced to the oil removal vessel. The oil removal vessel removes a portion of the hydrocarbons from the oilfield produced water to provide a reduced oil produced water. In addition, the system includes an iron sponge. The reduced oil produced water is introduced to the iron sponge, and the iron sponge removes a portion of the hazardous sulfides from the reduced oil produced water to provide a reduced sulfide produced water. The system also includes a stabilized sodium percarbonate solution. The stabilized sodium percarbonate solution is mixed with the reduced sulfide produced water to remove a portion of the hazardous sulfides from the reduced sulfide produced water to provide a treated produced water.
