METHODS FOR FORMING CURVED GLASS ARTICLES
Embodiments of a method of cold-forming a glass article are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the method includes bending a glass sheet over the chuck such that a first major surface of the glass sheets conforms to a bending surface of the chuck. In one or more embodiments, the method includes adhering a frame to the second major surface of the glass sheet such that at least one spacer is positioned between the glass sheet and the frame.
Device and method for picking up, shaping, and placing a thin glass pane
A device for picking up, shaping, and placing a thin glass pane, includes a frame with an upper side and a lower side, which is suitable to be directed at a glass pane with a thickness of less than 1 mm, and which is provided with a plurality of picking up pins that are arranged substantially parallel to one another and whose end directed at the glass pane is equipped with a suction cup, wherein the picking up pins are movable along their direction of extension independent of one another in order to adapt the arrangement of the suction cups to an intended shape of the glass pane.
METHOD FOR SHAPING COATED GLASS SHEETS
A method for shaping a coated glass sheet involves conveying the coated glass sheet through a furnace to heat the coated glass sheet to a temperature suitable for shaping. The coated glass sheet is then deposited on a first bending tool for supporting the coated glass sheet and is at a first position relative to the first bending tool. A first portion of the coated glass sheet is contacted to move the coated glass sheet to a second position relative to the first bending tool. The coated glass sheet is then shaped on the first bending tool. Other aspects include a method for adjusting the position of a hot coated glass sheet on a bending tool and a shaping line for shaping a coated glass sheet comprising a positioning device for contacting a first portion of a coated glass sheet on a bending tool to adjust the position thereof.
ROTARY TRANSITION SECTION AND TEMPERING AND FORMING APPARATUS FOR FORMING BENT GLASS
The present disclosure relates to a rotary transition section and a tempering and forming apparatus for forming bent glass. The rotary transition section includes a main rack and an auxiliary rack. A plurality of flexible shaft rollers for forming glass are arranged at intervals on the auxiliary rack along the glass conveying direction. An end of the auxiliary rack that is closer to a heating furnace is rotatably connected to the main rack. An end of the auxiliary rack that is away from the heating furnace is connected to a traction mechanism arranged on the main rack. In the tempering and forming apparatus employing the rotary transition section, a forming and tempering section has a lifting function to achieve abutment against a roller surface after the rotation of the transition section, which in turn solves the technical problem that the edge of the glass is difficult to form.
Articles comprising crystalline materials and method of making the same
Methods for making articles comprising crystalline material. Exemplary articles made by a method described herein include electronics enclosure (e.g., a watch case, cellular phone case, or a tablet case).
Glass member and electronic device including the same
Disclosed is an electronic device including a glass member having a flat portion and a side portion extending from an edge of the flat portion in at least a partially slanted or curved manner. The side portion includes a first curved portion extending from the flat portion, a second curved portion extending from the first curved portion and connected to the flat portion through the first curved portion, and at least one processing portion formed by at least a part of a border region between the first curved portion and the second curved portion. The at least one processing portion has a different refractive index from at least another portion of the side portion.
Articles that can be burner shields having grease flow control and/or chemical resistance
The present disclosure relates to non-metallic articles that can be burner shields having grease flow control and/or chemical resistance. The present disclosure also relates to glass-ceramic burner shields that can have grease flow control and/or chemical resistance, and preferably both.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REFORMING ULTRA-THIN GLASS SHEETS
Methods and apparatus provide for an ultra-thin glass sheet having a thickness of less than about 0.3 mm, being of a non-developable 3D shape, and including at least one bend having a radius of curvature of less than about 200 mm.
Method for manufacturing bent substrate and bent substrate
A method for manufacturing a bent substrate, which forms a bent part in at least a part of a substrate, in which the substrate includes a second region and a first region, the method for manufacturing including: supporting the first region of the substrate on a substrate support surface of a support member including a mold surface having a same curved surface shape as that of the bent part and the substrate support surface that supports the first region, in a state of facing the second region of the substrate to the mold surface; heating the second region of the substrate to soften the second region of the substrate by the heating; placing the second region along the mold surface of the support member by an own weight of the second region; and transferring the curved surface shape of the mold surface to the second region by an external force.
COMBINED COLD FORMING AND HOT FORMING PROCESSES FOR INCREASED DESIGN FLEXIBILITY
Disclosed herein are embodiments of a method of forming a glass sheet. In the method, a first bend radius is hot-formed in a first region at or above a first temperature. A second bend radius is cold-formed over a second region at a second temperature below the first temperature. The second bend radius is greater than the first bend radius. Also disclosed is a component of a vehicle interior system. The component includes a frame and a glass sheet. The glass sheet has a first curvature with a first bend radius formed by hot-forming. The glass sheet has a second curvature with a second bend radius, less than the first bend radius, formed by cold-forming. The glass sheet is adhered to the frame with an adhesive, and the adhesive is under greater stress in a region of the second curvature than in a region of the first curvature.
