11161765 · 2021-11-02 · ·

A mold opening and closing mechanism for a machine for forming glass articles includes at least one mold divided into two halves that open and close to form the articles. The halves of the molds are coupled to a pair of supporting arms, each arm being independently mounted opposite the other and separated in a parallel manner with respect to a support structure. The mechanism includes mold synchronizing means mounted so as to move with the mold support arms and to move inwards or outwards to open and close the molds. The mechanism further includes lever means having a first end connected to the support structure, the lever means and the pair of support arms transmitting to the synchronizing means an articulated inward or outward movement to close or open the molds. The mechanism also includes: drive means coupled to the support structure, for imparting an opening and closing movement to the support arms; a double-linkage closing system connected in an articulated manner to the synchronizing means; and a second end connected to the support structure. The lever means and the pair of support arms transmit an articulated inward or outward movement to the synchronizing means to close or open the molds. The mechanism further includes drive means coupled to the support structure to impart an opening and closing movement to the support arms, and a double-linkage closing system connected in an articulated and independent manner to each of the support arms and to the drive means.

Closing mechanism for the mold halves of an I.S. machine

A closing mechanism for the mold halves of an I.S. machine, including two yoke-like mold holders mounted on parallel guides and movable between a closed position and an open position by means of a drive. A spindle transmission is provided laterally to at least one guide, the spindle transmission including a threaded spindle that is connected to the drive via a transmission and is in engagement with two threaded sleeves, each of which is connected to one of the two mold holders via two threaded sections running in opposite directions. By means of the drive, a servomotor, the opening and closing movement of the mold holders is carried out. Two pneumatically actuated piston-cylinder units are provided in order to apply the clamping force required between the mold holders or the mold halves in the closed position.

The invention relates to a closing mechanism for the mold halves (5) of an I.S. machine, consisting of two yoke-like mold holders (3, 4) which are mounted on parallel guides (1, 2) and can be moved along said guides between a closed position and an open position by means of a drive. A spindle transmission (13) is provided laterally to the guide (1) so as to extend parallel to said guide, consisting of a threaded spindle that is connected to the drive via a transmission (15) and is in engagement with two threaded sleeves, each of which is connected to one of the two mold holders (3, 4), via two threaded sections running in opposite directions for the purpose of producing an opening or closing movement of the mold holders (3, 4). By means of the drive, a servomotor, the opening and closing movement of the mold holders (3, 4) is carried out. Two pneumatically actuated piston-cylinder units (22) are provided in order to apply the clamping force required between the mold holders (3, 4) or the mold halves (5) in the closed position, said units likewise being connected to the mold holders (3, 4) via an interposed toggle lever mechanism. A more structurally simple and reliable design is provided for the closing mechanism, said design also being free of thermal stresses on the basis of a coolant network integrated at least into the mold holders (3, 4).

A closing mechanism for at least two mold halves (4, 5) held by two mold holders (7, 8) includes a drivetrain suspended under the housing section (3) inside of the station housing. The mold holders (4, 5) are mounted on a linear guide and are joined with a threaded spindle, threaded sleeve and gearing with a drive set up on the outlet side for generating a vertically oriented linear movement. A toggle-lever mechanism situated inside of an oil bath accommodated in the station housing (1) is used as the gearing. This arrangement of essential components of the drivetrain opens allows removal of the drivetrain via the upper side of the station housing when necessary or incorporating the drivetrain into the station housing, thereby simplifying repair and maintenance work.
