Glass articles having films with moderate adhesion and retained strength
One or more aspects of the disclosure pertain to an article including a film disposed on a glass substrate, which may be strengthened, where the interface between the film and the glass substrate is modified, such that the article has an improved average flexural strength, and the film retains key functional properties for its application. Some key functional properties of the film include optical, electrical and/or mechanical properties. In one or more embodiments, the interface exhibits an effective adhesion energy of about less than about 4 J/m.sup.2. In some embodiments, the interface is modified by the inclusion of a crack mitigating layer containing an inorganic material between the glass substrate and the film.

The present invention aims to provide a vehicular exterior member that is excellent in strength and cost, and sufficiently ensures a viewing field of sharpness of a thermal image obtained by a far-infrared camera. A vehicular exterior member that includes a light blocking region and is configured to be attached to a vehicle equipped with a far-infrared camera. The vehicular exterior member further includes, in the light blocking region, a far-infrared ray transmitting region having an opening and a far-infrared ray transmitting member disposed in the opening. An average transmittance of far-infrared rays having a wavelength ranging from 8 to 13 μm of the far-infrared ray transmitting member is equal to or larger than 25%. A length of the longest straight line in straight lines connecting any desired two points on a surface on a vehicle exterior side of the far-infrared ray transmitting member is equal to or smaller than 80 mm. A diameter of the largest circle in circles formed in a projected shape obtained by projecting the far-infrared ray transmitting member in an optical axis direction of the far-infrared camera is equal to or larger than 12 mm. An average thickness of the far-infrared ray transmitting member is equal to or larger than 1.5 mm.
Fabrication method of semiconductor device
A method of fabricating a semiconductor device, which includes a separation step and has a high yield, is provided. A metal layer is formed over a substrate, fluorine is supplied to the metal layer, and the metal layer is then oxidized, whereby a metal compound layer is formed. A functional layer is formed over the metal compound layer, heat treatment is performed on the metal compound layer, and the functional layer is separated from the substrate with use of the metal compound layer. By performing first plasma treatment using a gas containing fluorine, fluorine can be supplied to the metal layer. By performing second plasma treatment using a gas containing oxygen, the metal layer supplied with fluorine can be oxidized.

An antireflection film is provided on a substrate and includes an interlayer, a silver-containing metal layer containing silver, and a dielectric layer, which are laminated in this order on a side of a substrate, in which the interlayer is a multilayer film having at least two layers in which a layer of high refractive index having a relatively high refractive index and a layer of lower refractive index having a relatively low refractive index are alternately laminated, the dielectric layer has a surface exposed to air, and the dielectric layer is a multilayer film including a silicon-containing oxide layer, a magnesium fluoride layer, and an adhesion layer provided between the silicon-containing oxide layer and the magnesium fluoride layer and configured to increase adhesiveness between the silicon-containing oxide layer and the magnesium fluoride layer.
