A thin glass article is provided that has a first face, a second face, one or more edges joining the first and second faces, and a thickness between the first and second faces, where the faces and the one or more edges together form an outer surface of the thin glass article. The thin glass article has an ion-exchanged surface layer on its outer surface. The ion-exchanged surface layer is non-uniform, wherein the non-uniform ion-exchanged surface layer has an associated compressive surface stress which varies between a minimum and a maximum value over the outer surface and/or a depth of layer which varies between a minimum and a maximum value over the outer surface. A method for producing a thin glass article and a use of a thin glass article are also provided.
Articles with patterned coatings
Embodiments of a article including include a substrate and a patterned coating are provided. In one or more embodiments, when a strain is applied to the article, the article exhibits a failure strain of 0.5% or greater. Patterned coating may include a particulate coating or may include a discontinuous coating. The patterned coating of some embodiments may cover about 20% to about 75% of the surface area of the substrate. Methods for forming such articles are also provided.
Textured glass for light extraction enhancement of OLED lighting
A textured glass substrate along with articles comprising a textured glass substrate and methods of making are provided. The substrates retain the mechanical and optical properties of the untextured glass, while the process provides a reliable and low cost, easy scale up method. The resulting glass substrates are of particular use for light extraction in organic light emitting diode structures.
Flexible display apparatus with curved edge and electronic device comprising the same
A flexible display apparatus comprises a glass substrate including a flat surface and a glass etching surface that is curved, and a flexible display panel including a bending portion on the glass etching surface.
Mask device and manufacturing method thereof, evaporation system
The present disclosure provides a mask device and a manufacturing method thereof, and an evaporation system. The mask device includes a frame, strip alignment plates and a strip support plate, hollow portions are provided in the strip alignment plates, and the strip alignment plates are fixed on the frame; the strip support plate and the strip alignment plates cross each other, a plurality of welding spots are provided on the surface of the strip support plate proximal to the frame, and are welded and fixed to the frame, and the plurality of welding spots are provided in the region of the strip support plate corresponding to the hollow portions.
FLOW CELL SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Systems and methods for flow cells are provided. Flow cells may encompass a range of fluidic devices for various applications ranging from microfluidic systems to bulk phase flow systems. Flow cells may comprise one or more components for passive or active fluid transfer. Descriptions are provided for advantageous methods of fabricating flow cells for particular applications such as biological assays. Provided is a composition, comprising a first substrate comprising a first covalently-bound ligand; and a second substrate comprising a second covalently-bound ligand; wherein the first covalently-bound ligand and the second covalently-bound ligand are covalently bonded to form a heterocyclic compound. Also provided is a flow cell device, comprising: a first substrate comprising a microfabricated surface; and a second substrate comprising a non-patterned surface; wherein the first substrate is joined to the second substrate to form an enclosure; and wherein the microfabricated surface comprises at least one chamber, wherein the chamber comprises a microarray of active sites with specific functionalization separated by an optically resolvable distance and a functionalized surface comprising a passivating group or a blocking group; and wherein each active site of the microarray of active sites comprises a capture agent.
METHOD OF TREATING A SUBSTRATE SURFACE, APPARATUS THEREFOR, AND TREATED GLASS ARTICLES
Apparatus and method for treating a substrate, for example texturing a substrate. In some embodiments, a masking material is applied to a surface of the substrate in a predetermined pattern, the surface thereafter contacted with an etchant that removes the masking material. Contacting the surface with the etchant produces multiple co-located textures. In other embodiments, the masking step can be eliminated, and the etchant is applied in a predetermined pattern to produce multiple co-located textures. In still other embodiments, the substrate has a chemical composition, and the substrate is exposed to a leachant that leaches at least one constituent of the chemical composition to produce a substrate with a varying chemical composition at the substrate surface.
Textured glass articles and methods of making the same
A method is described herein of making a textured glass article where the method includes: providing a glass substrate having an initial primary surface and an opposing primary surface; disposing a protective coating on at least one of the initial primary surface or the opposing primary surface; and etching the glass substrate with a hydrofluoric acid-free etchant having a pH of about 7 or less to form a leached layer in the glass substrate.
