SILICON-SILICON COMPOSITE OXIDE-CARBON COMPOSITE, METHOD FOR PREPARING SAME, AND NEGATIVE ELECTRODE ACTIVE MATERIAL COMPRISING SAME
The present invention provides a silicon-silicon composite oxide-carbon composite, a method for preparing same, and a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, comprising same. More particularly, the silicon-silicon composite oxide-carbon composite of the present invention has a core-shell structure wherein the core comprises silicon, a silicon oxide compound, and magnesium silicate, and the shell comprises a carbon layer. In addition, by having a specific range of span values through the adjustment of particle size distribution of the composite, when used as a negative electrode active material of a secondary battery, the composite can improve not only the capacity of the secondary battery but also the cycle characteristics and initial efficiency thereof.
Dense sintered product
Sintered product having a relative density of greater than 90%, with, to more than 80% of the volume thereof, a stack of flat ceramic platelets, the assembly of the platelets having a mean thickness of less than 3 μm, having a width of greater than 50 mm, and including more than 20% of alumina, as a percentage on the basis of the weight of the product. The width of the product is the largest dimension measured in the plane in which the length of the product is measured, along a direction perpendicular to the direction of the length. The length of the product is the largest dimension thereof in a plane parallel to the general plane in which the platelets extend.
SULFIDE SOLID ELECTROLYTE, AND ELECTRODE MIXTURE, SOLID ELECTROLYTE LAYER AND BATTERY USING SAME
There is provided a sulfide solid electrolyte containing elemental lithium (Li), elemental phosphorus (P), elemental sulfur (S), and an elemental halogen (X). The mole ratio of the elemental lithium (Li) to the elemental phosphorus (P), Li/P, satisfies 3.7<Li/P<5.4. The mole ratio of the elemental sulfur (S) to the elemental phosphorus (P), S/P, satisfies 3.9<S/P<4.1. The mole ratio of the elemental halogen (X) to the elemental phosphorus (P), X/P, satisfies 0.7<X/P<2.4. The sulfide solid electrolyte includes a crystalline phase having an argyrodite-type crystal structure.
OXIDE BASED CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITES
A method of making a ceramic matrix composites (CMC) having superior properties at high temperatures. The CMC can include a sol gel mixture mixed or blended metal oxide particles. The sol-gel mixture can be an aqueous colloidal suspension of a metal oxide, preferably from about 10 wt % to about 25 wt % of the metal oxide, containing a metal oxide such as alumina (Al.sub.2O.sub.3), silica (SiO.sub.2) or alumina-coated silica. The mixture can be infiltrated into a ceramic fiber, gelled, dried and sintered to form the CMC of the present teachings.
CERAMIC PRODUCTS AND METHODS OF MAKING THEREOF
In some embodiments, a ceramic armor product includes: a ceramic powder; an at least one metal-based additive; and a density of 4.3-4.7 g/cc, wherein the ceramic armor product is substantially lacking grain orientation. In some embodiments, a ceramic armor product, includes: a ceramic powder, wherein the ceramic powder is titanium diboride (TiB2); an at least one metal-based additive, wherein the at least one metal based additive comprises elements ranging from atomic numbers 21 through 30, 39 through 51, and 57 through 77; and a density of 4.3-4.7 g/cc, wherein the ceramic armor product is substantially lacking grain orientation.
Electroactive materials for metal-ion batteries
This invention relates to particulate electroactive materials consisting of a plurality of composite particles, wherein the composite particles comprise a plurality of silicon nanoparticles dispersed within a conductive carbon matrix. The particulate material comprises 40 to 65 wt % silicon, at least 6 wt % and less than 20% oxygen, and has a weight ratio of the total amount of oxygen and nitrogen to silicon in the range of from 0.1 to 0.45 and a weight ratio of carbon to silicon in the range of from 0.1 to 1. The particulate electroactive materials are useful as an active component of an anode in a metal ion battery.
SILICON-BASED CARBON COMPOSITE, PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR, AND ANODE ACTIVE MATERIAL COMPRISING SAME
An embodiment of the present invention relates to a silicon-based carbon composite, a preparation method therefor, and an anode active material for a lithium secondary battery, comprising same, and, more specifically, the silicon-based carbon composite of the present invention is a silicon-based carbon composite having a core-shell structure, wherein the core comprises silicon, silicon oxide compound and magnesium silicate, the shell comprises at least two carbon layers comprising a first carbon layer and a second carbon layer, and the second carbon layer is reduced graphene oxide, and thus, during application of the silicon-based carbon composite to an anode active material for a secondary battery, the charge/discharge capacity, initial charge/discharge efficiency and capacity retention of the secondary battery can be improved.
ANODE FOR LITHIUM-ION BATTERY AND METHOD OF FABRICATING SAME
Disclosed is a method of fabricating an anode for a lithium-ion battery, including milling a mixture of nano-silicon, one or more carbonaceous materials and one or more solvents, wherein the mixture is retained as a wet slurry during milling. The mixture is carbonised to produce a silicon thinly coated with carbon (Si@C) material. Further milling occurs of a second mixture of the Si@C material, one or more graphite, one or more second carbonaceous materials and one or more second solvents, wherein the second mixture is retained as a second wet slurry during milling. The second mixture is carbonised to produce a Si@C/graphite/carbon material. The anode is formed from the Si@C/graphite/carbon material.
Superhard constructions and methods of making same
A polycrystalline super hard construction has a first region having a body of thermally stable polycrystalline super hard material having a plurality of intergrown grains of super hard material; a second region forming a substrate having a hard phase and a binder phase; and a third region interposed between the first and second regions. The third region includes a composite material having a first phase comprising a plurality of non-intergrown grains of super hard material, and a matrix material. A fourth region interposed between the second and third region has a major proportion having one or more components of the binder material of the second region, and one or more reaction products between the binder material of the second region and one or more components of the third region.
Sinterable powder for making a dense slip casted pressureless sintered SiC based ceramic product
A SiC based sinterable powder mixture comprising, by dried weight of said powder: a) a mineral content comprising—silicon carbide (SiC) particles, —mineral boron compound particles, the powder comprising at least 50% by weight of SiC and the total mineral content of the powder being at least 90% by weight, b) at least a water insoluble carbon-containing source, in particular a carbon containing resin, the powder comprising at least 1% by weight, and preferably less than 10% by weight, of said water insoluble carbon-containing source, wherein the average particle size of said sinterable powder is comprised between 0.5 to 2.0 micrometers.
