The invention relates to a method for producing a ceramic moulded body, comprising the following steps: a) producing a green body containing ceramic material, binding agents and an organic pore forming agent; b) heating the green body to a temperature higher than the sublimation and/or decomposition temperature of the pore forming agent; c) burning the green body to form a ceramic moulded body. According to the invention, the binding agent comprises polyglycols and fumaric acid.
FRIABLE CERAMIC-BONDED DIAMOND COMPOSITE PARTICLES AND METHODS TO PRODUCE SAME
Ceramic-bonded diamond composite particle includes a plurality of diamond grains and silicon carbide reaction bonded to the diamond grains having a composition of 60-90 wt. % diamond, 10-40 wt. % silicon carbide, ≦2 wt. % silicon. Particles are formed by processes that forms granules in a pre-consolidation process, forms a densified compact including ceramic-bonded diamond composite material in a consolidation process or forms ceramic-bonded diamond composite material directly, and a post-consolidation process in which the densified compact or ceramic-bonded diamond composite material is mechanically broken to form a plurality of the particles. Inert or active material can be incorporated into the densified compact or coated on granules to reduce the number and extent of diamond to silicon carbide bonding occurring in the consolidation process and make the ceramic-bonded diamond composite material more friable and easily breakable into composite particles.
INORGANIC STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
Provided is an inorganic structure including a plurality of zirconium silicate particles; and a binding part that covers a surface of each of the zirconium silicate particles and binds the zirconium silicate particles together. The binding part contains an amorphous compound containing silicon, a metallic element other than silicon, and oxygen, and contains substantially no alkali metal, B, V, Te, P, Bi, Pb and Zn. Also provided is a method for producing an inorganic structure including: a step for obtaining a mixture by mixing a plurality of zirconium silicate particles, a plurality of amorphous silicon dioxide particles, and an aqueous solution containing a metallic element other than silicon; and a step for pressurizing and heating the mixture under conditions of a pressure of 10 to 600 MPa and a temperature of 50 to 300° C.

The present invention relates to a technique of dramatically improving a method for causing a molten metal of an Al alloy or the like to infiltrate without pressurization into a preform obtained by molding and hardening a ceramic powder, and obtaining “a metal matrix composite formed from a ceramic powder and an Al alloy or the like” in a uniform state as a whole more simply and stably, and the present invention provides “a production method for producing a metal matrix composite containing aluminum and ceramic, the method including: obtaining a mixed body by performing molding using a mixture containing a magnesium-containing powder, a ceramic powder, and an inorganic or organic/inorganic binder that is hardened when heated to 500° C. or lower; preparing a preform by calcining the mixed body at a temperature of 500° C. or lower; and causing an Al alloy or the like to infiltrate without pressurization into the obtained preform to produce the metal matrix composite containing aluminum and ceramic, and a method for preparing the preform.”
POLYCRYSTALLINE DIAMOND
An embodiment of a PCD insert comprises an embodiment of a PCD element joined to a cemented carbide substrate at an interface. The PCD element has internal diamond surfaces defining interstices between them. The PCD element comprises a masked or passivated region and an unmasked or unpassivated region, the unmasked or unpassivated region defining a boundary with the substrate, the boundary being the interface. At least some of the internal diamond surfaces of the masked or passivated region contact a mask or passivation medium, and some or all of the interstices of the masked or passivated region and of the unmasked or unpassivated region are at least partially filled with an infiltrant material.

A method for producing a three-dimensional porous transition alumina catalyst monolith of stacked catalyst fibers, comprising: a) Preparing a paste in a liquid diluent of hydroxide precursor particles and/or oxyhydroxide precursor particles of transition alumina particles, all particles in the suspension having a number average particle size in the range of from 0.05 to 700 μm, b) extruding the paste nozzle(s) to form fibers, and depositing the extruded fibers to form a three-dimensional porous catalyst monolith precursor, c) drying the precursor to remove the liquid diluent, d) performing a temperature treatment of the dried porous catalyst monolith precursor to form the transition alumina catalyst monolith, wherein no temperature treatment of the porous catalyst monolith precursor or porous catalyst monolith at temperatures above 1000° C. is performed and wherein no further catalytically active metals, metal oxides or metal compounds are applied to the surface.
Coating fabrication method for producing engineered microstructure of silicate-resistant barrier coating
A coating fabrication method includes providing engineered granules and thermally consolidating the engineered granules on a substrate to form a silicate-resistant barrier coating. Each of the engineered granules is an aggregate of at least one refractory matrix region and at least one calcium aluminosilicate additive region (CAS additive region) attached with the at least one refractory matrix region. In the thermal consolidation, the refractory matrix region from the engineered granules form grains of a refractory matrix of the silicate-resistant barrier coating and the CAS additive region from the engineered granules form CAS additives that are dispersed in grain boundaries between the grains.
